Today, the City of Bellaire honored the individuals who lost their lives during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We paid tribute to the courageous civilians and first responders who faced unimaginable circumstances: those who gave their lives in service and sacrifice, the families who suffered profound loss, and the survivors whose resilience continues to inspire. Their bravery, dedication, and spirit stand as a lasting testament to the strength of our united nation. They will forever remain in our hearts.

To mark the 25th anniversary, we held a remembrance ceremony featuring remarks from Bellaire Fire Chief Farquhar, Bellaire Mayor Gus Pappas, and Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. Together, we reflected on the events of that day, events etched into our nation’s collective memory.

Take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families whose lives were forever changed. May we continue to carry forward the values of unity, compassion, and service that emerged in the wake of that day. We will never forget.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

September 11, 2001 — 25 years later, we still remember.

We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, along with every first responder and innocent life lost that day. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those of us who wear the uniform today, their legacy is a reminder of what service truly means, courage, duty, brotherhood, and putting others before ourselves.

From all of us at the Bellaire Fire Department, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
