I am planning on speaking before the Bellaire City Council on August 7. I will be talking about Loftin Park which is adjacent to the Bellaire Recreation Center. Come join me!

Still contemplating what the next move will be regarding dogs in the park! In the meantime there are other issues regarding access and egress from the park near City Hall!

The latest controversy is whether or not to allow dogs in the city parks. I spoke in favor of allowing dogs in the city parks provided that they are on a leash, they have an updated rabies shot, and that owners pick up after their dogs!

Some parks have the additional requirement that dogs should not be allowed near the playground areas; I do not have a problem with this.

Three people spoke at City Council last Monday evening, May 15. Two spoke in favor of allowing dogs (and were dog owners,) and one spoke against dogs in parks. He did not say whether or not he owned a dog.

Stay tuned for further developments on this issue!

I have noticed that my neighbors on my block have a lot of Recycling to put out every Wednesday. Many households have up to three bins full of paper and cardboard, etc. yet on trash days (twice a week) there is hardly any garbage in the black bags. Some people on my block only put out garbage once a week.
How about you? Have you noticed this trend in your neighborhood as well?
Please let me know!

My latest project is to get Little Libraries in Bellaire. West University is planning to install six Tiny Libraries this year. I visited the tiny library in Colonial Park at Thanksgiving and took two books and donated two books. Simple!

While driving home from Galveston this week I noticed a billboard with a picture of Bill King, candidate for Mayor of Houston. The words on the billboard said "You had me at Fix the Streets."

I had a meeting with David Montegue this week. We discussed changes I would like to see made in Bellaire--including Crisis Intervention Training for Police Officers and better customer service when citizens call in to report a dangerous situation. i.e. a tree branch covering a stop sign.

I will be meeting with one of the newly elected Council Members on Monday to discuss my concerns about the Bellaire Police and the Crisis Intervention Training that is available for free to all policemen in Harris County. It is a 40 hour course provided by Harris County in conjunction with NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The people have spoken. I had 994 votes; my opponent had more. Thank you so much to all of my friends and supporters!
