🚨 UPDATED SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: STORMS ACCELERATING INTO ALL OF HARDIN & LOGAN COUNTIES 🚨

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued an updated Special Weather Statement. This line of storms has picked up significant forward speed and is now hauling southeast at a fast 55 mph.

Timing & Location:

Active Until: 9:15 PM EDT.

Current Movement: As of 8:37 PM, the line stretches from near Arlington down through Lakeview and Fort Loramie, rushing southeast.

Local Areas Directly Impacted Now: Kenton, Bellefontaine, Forest, Dunkirk, Belle Center, West Mansfield, Russells Point, De Graff, Lakeview, West Liberty, and Chippewa Park.

⚠️ Primary Hazards:

Wind Gusts up to 40 mph. These quick-moving winds will be enough to blow around loose patio furniture, knock over trash cans, and snap weak tree branches.

What You Need to Know:
The system is moving fast, so conditions will change rapidly over the next 30 minutes. While the peak winds on this specific statement are currently clocked at 40 mph, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until Midnight. Outflow winds ahead of the main rain segment could hit suddenly.

If you have loose items outside, secure them quickly if it is safe to do so, and head indoors as the lightning and heavy rain arrive.

BMRT held our monthly Squad Meeting yesterday to discuss current issues, and for training. The days training focused on 2 items, the first was administration of antibiotics, something newly added to our protocol. The second was a demonstration of Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department, Ohio new ventilator.
For cardiac arrests, and other serious calls, we often call for additional resources, and that often includes Huntsville VFD. And while we research the feasibility of adding a ventilator on our ambulances, it's good to see what's already in the field around us.

A special Thanks to Paramedic Jessica Evans, for coming up and providing us with hands-on on experience with the ventilator.

One Family, One Mission

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office staff and deputies want to extend our condolences to the family of Rittman Police Department's Sgt. Reis, his coworkers, and friends during this unimaginable time.
During this time Ohio TERT has been activated to provide critical dispatching services for Wayne County Sheriff's Office as they mourn the loss of Sgt. Reis, the additional victims of the incident, and continue to heal those that were injured.
Hardin County Sheriff's Office will be sending Dispatcher/TAC Culver to assist in filling dispatch shifts for the next 48 hours as the community comes together to support each other. We want to recognize Dispatcher Culver for her dedication to helping others and are proud to be members of the Ohio TERT team.

2026 continues to be a busy year. Compared to last year, we have had a 21% increase in call volume.

After todays monthly squad meeting and training, a few BMRT members started getting the station ready for July 4th. Some scrubbing and painting, and everything looks refreshed and ready for celebration!

Special Thanks to Amy McElfresh , Ann Mcelfresh, Emily Roy and Andrew Roy for cleaning and painting. We can't wait to see everyone celebrate America's 250th birthday with us!
