June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. Let's learn, share, and together.
What can we do to promote brain health and reduce the risk of cognitive decline? Here are a few tips:
Stay physically active: Exercise is good for the body and the brain. Regular physical activity can help improve cognitive function.
Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline.
Stay mentally active: Keep your brain engaged by doing puzzles, playing games, or learning something new. Mental stimulation can help improve cognitive function.
Stay socially active: Social isolation and loneliness can have negative effects on cognitive function. Stay connected with friends and family, join a club or organization, or volunteer in your community.

A quick application of repellent before outdoor activities goes a long way in staying bite-free, which lowers the risk of vector-borne diseases. Use the EPA’s search tool to find the right repellent for you and your family members: https://www.epa.gov/insect-repellents/find-repellent-right-you

🍦 A sweet treat for a hot summer day!

Plaquemines Parish President Keith Hinkley stopped by the Sheriff Jerry Turlich PPSO Junior Deputy Summer Camp yesterday to help serve ice cream to campers alongside A Sprinkle in Time.

The Junior Deputy Camp gives local youth the opportunity to learn, build teamwork skills, and create lasting memories. Thank you to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office for hosting another great camp for our community’s youth!
