Last week, one of our residents found an unwanted visitor swimming in their backyard pool. After a quick response by Traffic/Marine Officer Kimberlin, the gator was safely secured and relocated. 🐊

Just a quick reminder, we are in the middle of Florida alligator mating season which runs from May to June which brings increased activity. Alligators become more visible and aggressive. Please be aware of where you are swimming and take a second look before you jump into your backyard pools. 🐊

May 18th - May 31st is the Click it or Ticket campaign! Our Officers are trained to spot drivers and passengers who are not wearing their seatbelt.

The fine amount for not wearing your seatbelt in Orange County is $114. If a minor is not properly belted in the vehicle, the driver can be cited.

Be safe Bell Isle and wear your seatbelt.

🛥️Boater Safety Reminder – Memorial Day Weekend🛟

As Memorial Day Weekend approaches and everyone heads out to enjoy the lakes, The Belle Isle Police Department would like to take a moment to remind everyone to be respectful, safe boaters and always remember, safety is always our top priority.

BIPD will have an increased presence on the lakes this weekend and will be strictly enforcing:

✅ Boating Under the Influence (BUI)
✅ Careless and Reckless Operation
✅ Modified Exhaust Systems
✅ Noise Ordinance Violations
✅ All Applicable Florida State Statutes
✅ All City Owned Boat Ramp Rules & Ordinances
✅ Boat Ramp & Roadway No Parking signs

City boat ramps (Venetian/Perkins) will be closed and locked at 8:15pm. No excuses or preferential treatment.
Please be mindful of all "No Parking Signs" around the boat ramps as parking violations will be strictly enforced.

Our goal is to keep everyone on the water and onshore safe. Please operate your vessels responsibly, wear your Coast Guard-approved life jackets when applicable, and always have a sober operator at the helm.

Let’s work together to make this a fun and incident-free weekend.

On the morning of May 17, 2026, Belle Isle Police officers observed significant damage to newly installed traffic delineators and street signs along Hoffner Ave.

Through an investigation utilizing technology tools afforded to the Police Department by the City Council, including Flock Safety cameras and red-light camera systems, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect vehicle involved. The registered owner of the vehicle was interviewed and later confessed to the crime.

The driver was subsequently charged with Hit & Run: Leave Scene of Crash with Property Damage.

The Belle Isle Police Department remains committed to protecting City property and holding individuals accountable for criminal acts that impact our community. We would also like to thank the City Council and our residents for continuing to support the tools and technology necessary to help solve crimes and enhance public safety throughout the City of Belle Isle.

🕵️‍♀️SCAM ALERT: Building, Planning or Zoning Permits🕵️

City of Belle Isle and BIPD wants to again remind everyone of the continued scamming of the P & Z Permitting. We had another resident in Belle Isle come forward after submitting a variance, was contacted by unknown source to expedite the process. They ask you to wire funds to them, which the city will NEVER ask you to do. You will ONLY receive an email from the city clerk from domain .gov. Please carefully read through the flyer that is attached if you are putting in permits to the P & Z board. When receiving all permitting paperwork and instructions, this flyer will be attached for your records. Anytime you have questions or if something looks "phish-y", please call City Hall at (407)-851-7730.

💪🏋️Belle Isle was proudly represented at the FHSAA State Weightlifting Meet this weekend. 💪🏋️‍♂️

Cornerstone Charter Academy athlete Chris Hernandez competed at the state level with coach Alan Lambert and Mike Santiago of Cornerstone Charter Academy, while Belle Isle Police Chief Travis Grimm was also in attendance, coaching his son, who competes for Father Lopez Catholic High School.

It is always great to see members of the Belle Isle community represented on the state stage through athletics, hard work, and dedication. Competing at this level takes discipline, commitment, and countless hours of preparation.

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and families who represented their schools and communities this weekend.
