Chautauqua: Cultivating Community
October 3+4, 2026

We are proud to announce Chautuauqua: Cultivating Community, a weekend of interactive workshops, hands-on craft sessions, and inspiring educational lectures right here in Bartlett Arboretum. Rooted in the themes of mutual learning and fostering an enduring spirit of community, the two-day event will transform the arboretum into an open-air classroom and cultural forum.

The Chautauqua movement, which originated in the late 1800s as an assembly for education, art, and community enlightenment, has expanded over the last century to locations stretching from New York to Colorado. By launching our inaugural assembly this year, Bartlett Arboretum joins the Chautauqua Trail, providing a modern sanctuary for folks to unplug, share knowledge, and connect deeply with their neighbors.

Brave Combo is a dance party, and we’re mean to shake it all about. In our Halloween costumes, no doubt! Thankfully, Carl and the boys have November 1st available as Brave Combo has become tradition at Bartlett Arboretum! 💃 🕺 Mark your calendars accordingly.

📣 Mother Nature has turned down the thermostat, so we’re taking this event outdoors at Bartlett Arboretum. 🌳

🎶 Back by popular demand, 21st Century’s answer to the Everly Brothers, The Cactus Blossoms 🌵 🌸 return to Bartlett Arboretum this Sunday. This is a not-to-miss concert, folks.

Blood harmonies is the secret sauce in some of the most spine-tingling moments in popular music. These Minneapolis-based brothers Page Burkum and Jack Torrey – offer compelling evidence that this tradition is alive and well, sporting “creative turns of phrase, gorgeous harmonies, and an ageless sound.” (NPR All Things Considered)

(Possibly, we'll be heading on over to the lovely air-conditioned Methodist Church for the concert, depending on forecast.) We love our neighborhood Methodists! KMUW’s Jedd Beaudoin had a chat with The Cactus Blossoms about music and reminiscing about their first show at Bartlett. (We’re thrilled to have another tree enthusiast among us, folks.) We’re delighted to host their return this Sunday. 🎵

For everyone’s safety and comfort, we’re moving our highly anticipated concert featuring world-renowned East Nash Grass to Belle Plaine Global Methodist Church, just seven blocks north—124 E 10th Ave.
Award-winning bluegrass downbeat tomorrow, August 9, at 4:30pm with a secret opening act at 4.
No picnics in the church, but bring them to the Arb before, during, or after the concert—gates will be wide open.
