What a great day for our community!

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make today’s Kids Safety Fair possible. To all of the families who came out, the kids who stopped by and participated, and everyone who spent part of their Saturday with us — we truly appreciate you!

A special thank you to all of the Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, all the different agencies, organizations, and vendors who donated their time, brought equipment, shared their knowledge, and helped teach our kids and families about safety. Having so many different groups come together with one goal — keeping our community and our kids safe — is what made today so special.

A lot of time and effort went into putting this event together, but seeing the kids having fun, learning, asking questions, and getting to interact with everyone made it all worth it.

Thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes, everyone who participated, and everyone who simply showed up and supported the event. This is what community is all about.

We hope you all had as much fun today as we did putting it on. Thank you for making the Kids Safety Fair a success! 🚒🚑🚓❤️

Grab the kids and come down to Franklin Park tomorrow from 10 until 1 for fun and games and check out all our gear and equipment! There will be a lot of fun activities for the kids and food as well, and the Belle Plaine PD and our BP Ambulance service will be there too! We hope to see the whole town show up...let's do it!

The Belle Plaine Fire Department is selling a 1995 Freightliner Fl 70 pumper built by Smeal Fire Apparatus, and is a 5 passenger cab with 3 pack seats in the rear of the cab. Truck is in good condition and was originally purchased new by Monticello Fire Department, and BPFD bought it in September of 2020, and has 22353 miles and 1638 hours on it now. It has a 1000 gal. tank and a 1250 GPM Waterous midship pump. It's powered by an 8.9 Cummins motor and backed by an Allison automatic transmission. No loose equipment and/or hose is included in sale. 3 Ladders are included- roof ladder, attic ladder, and a 3 section ladder. The truck is in good shape with no rust, but has typical scratches and wear from 31 years of service. We used the truck as our primary rescue vehicle and as a back-up pumper, and it's been an excellent truck for us. Asking $37,500. Any questions please message the page here. We have a new truck scheduled to be delivered in October, 2026, so you would not be able to take possession until it arrives, but we will take a deposit to hold it until then.

Belle Plaine Fire was paged for a house fire this afternoon, with fire showing from the rear of the home. On scene time was approximately an hour and 45 minutes, with the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department assisting, and Belle Plaine Area Ambulance Service providing rehab for our firefighters on this hot afternoon. Belle Plaine Police Department was there also assisting as needed.

This afternoon the Belle Plaine Fire Department participated in a mock accident event at the Belle Plaine High School to bring awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving and texting and driving. This was a simulated head on collision caused by an impaired driver who was also texting while driving. The BPFD was joined by the Belle Plaine Police Department, Belle Plaine Area Ambulance Service, and University of Iowa AirCare. We all feel it's important to attempt to show some of the possible consequences of bad choices and this is one manner of doing so. We also say thank you to all the school admin and staff who assisted us in this event, they are much appreciated.
