Due to age and health concerns, Maxwell is retiring effective immediately as JTVFD “commissioner”. He has had a great run for 15 years but it is time. Duke will take the position effective immediately. He is 8 months old but learning quickly. Max LOVED to ride in Car 80 with the siren on. He got sooo excited. Let’s hope Duke does! Just a little humor, they are not certified k-9s. They are great partners though.

Please support our partners to the east. It is fantastic! Better than White Castle in my opinion. And it supports a great department. JTVFD Chief Rick Cooper.

Just FYI. Don’t be surprised to see a Crawfordsville Fire Department ambulance in the township.

Press Release about our missing resident Britney Gard.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the missing person case of Britney Gard and the incident that surrounds it. Three fire investigators were summoned to the scene and are still compiling evidence and information from the scene on county road 600 North in Putnam County Indiana. Fire investigators advise that they believe the fire that started in the house is suspicious in nature. Full findings will be relayed to criminal investigators as the fire investigation continues.

The night of the fire, a drone was used to assist search efforts in the area throughout the evening. The Putnam County Community Emergency Response Team continued search efforts in the area the following day. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources was contacted regarding searches of the pond on the property. Britney Gard could not be located.

Our detectives, along with other law enforcement agency detectives continue to use technology based investigative tools and programs to attempt to locate Britney Gard. Any information about her current location is needed. We ask that if anyone has information about the current location of Britney, please contact Putnam County Emergency Operations Center and 911 Dispatch at 765-653-5115 extension zero. To leave an anonymous tip, please call our TIP line at 765-653-3211 extension 699.

What we know:
• Britney Gard was last seen on Tuesday September 30.
• The house was reported as showing smoke on October 1 at 7:39pm.
• The fire was extinguished by our local fire departments and no individuals were found in the fire damaged home.
• Britney Gard has not been located; family and friends have not had contact with her since the fire.

We continue to investigate this case around the clock and are involved with her family to find Britney. Since this is an active investigation and we continue to gather information hourly, we will not be discussing any further particular evidence or information until we can complete this endeavor and find Britney Gard.

Respectfully, Sheriff Jerrod E. Baugh
