Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a judge?

Now you can give it a try thanks to the Ohio Supreme Court in conjunction with the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education.

As we celebrate America 250, we reflect on 250 years of a nation built on the enduring principles of liberty, justice, and the rule of law.

Our Constitution established three equal branches of government, each with a distinct role in protecting our freedom.

The judicial branch serves a unique purpose—not to make laws or enforce them, but to interpret and apply them fairly, ensuring that every person who comes before the court is heard with impartiality, dignity, and respect.

As part of its America 250 celebration, the Supreme Court of Ohio has created an interactive game that allows individuals to experience what it’s like to be a judge at each level of Ohio’s court system. The game is geared toward 6th graders but can be played by anyone!

https://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/YouBetheJudge/index.html

You Be the Judge takes players on a journey through the court system, letting them make decisions as judges. Players make key decisions from the case beginning in a trial court all the way to the case’s conclusion in the Supreme Court.

Happy America 250!⚖️

You be the judge! A new interactive game lets students step into the robe and assess the case just as Ohio judges do at every level of the courts.

Five years ago today, I had the honor of taking the oath to serve as a Family Court Judge. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

Every day has been a reminder that this role is about people—children, families, and our community. I’ve had the opportunity to witness incredible resilience, support families through difficult moments, and work alongside dedicated professionals who are committed to making a positive difference.

Thank you to everyone who has placed their trust in me over the past five years. I remain committed to serving with fairness, integrity, compassion, and respect for every person who comes before the court.

Here’s to continuing the work of strengthening families, protecting children, and serving our community with humility and purpose. Thank you for allowing me to serve. ⚖️

This morning, I had the privilege of spending time with the wonderful seniors at Logan County Friendly Senior Center sharing fellowship, laughter, and gratitude for the generations who have helped shape our community.🌟

This evening, it was just as rewarding to support our local youth at the Logan County Fair bake sale. Watching young people learn the value of hard work, service, and community involvement is always inspiring. Congratulations William (Ashley Vicario Holtkamp) and all the others who worked hard to create beautiful cake masterpieces!🎂

From our oldest residents to our youngest, strong communities are built when we show up for one another. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support both today and for everyone who makes our community such a special place. 🇺🇸

As we celebrate America 250, we’re reminded that the story of our nation has always been written in communities just like ours.🇺🇸

Some of the best ways to honor this milestone aren’t found inside a building—they’re found outside, together. Whether it’s attending a local parade, cheering at a youth ballgame, enjoying a community concert, supporting a farmers market, or simply gathering with neighbors in the park to get dunked in a dunk tank 💦, these moments strengthen the connections that make Logan County and our country so special.

As we look ahead to America’s 250th birthday, let’s celebrate not only our nation’s history, but also the people, traditions, and hometown events that continue to bring us together.

Get outside. Support our local community. Make memories with family and friends. That’s the American spirit worth celebrating.

Happy America 250! 🇺🇸

In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, local community service organizations remind us of the power of neighbors helping neighbors.

Groups like the Lions Club bring people together to serve others, support local needs, develop future leaders, and strengthen the fabric of our communities. Whether it’s providing vision services, awarding scholarships, supporting youth programs, assisting families in need, or volunteering at local events, their impact reaches far beyond any single project.

Strong communities don’t happen by accident—they are built by people who are willing to give their time, talents, and hearts in service to others.

Today, I’m grateful for the dedicated volunteers who quietly make a difference every day. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, I encourage you to learn more about a local service organization. You may be surprised by how much good can come from a group of people working together for a common purpose.

Service above self isn’t just a motto—it’s a way of building stronger communities for everyone.
