In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, local community service organizations remind us of the power of neighbors helping neighbors.

Groups like the Lions Club bring people together to serve others, support local needs, develop future leaders, and strengthen the fabric of our communities. Whether it’s providing vision services, awarding scholarships, supporting youth programs, assisting families in need, or volunteering at local events, their impact reaches far beyond any single project.

Strong communities don’t happen by accident—they are built by people who are willing to give their time, talents, and hearts in service to others.

Today, I’m grateful for the dedicated volunteers who quietly make a difference every day. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, I encourage you to learn more about a local service organization. You may be surprised by how much good can come from a group of people working together for a common purpose.

Service above self isn’t just a motto—it’s a way of building stronger communities for everyone.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, I pause to honor the brave men and women who put on the badge and willingly stand between danger and the communities they serve.

As both a judge and the wife of a police officer, this day carries deep personal meaning for me. In 2019, I had the privilege of visiting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. Walking among the names etched in stone was a powerful reminder that behind every badge is a family, a story, and a sacrifice that will never be forgotten.

In 2024, I was honored to speak on this subject and reflect on the courage, commitment, and service of our law enforcement officers. Their work often goes unseen, but the impact they make in protecting our communities is immeasurable.

Today, we remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty, we pray for the officers continuing to serve, and we stand beside the families who carry both pride and sacrifice every day.

May we never take their service for granted.

Thank you Fraternal Order of Police, Hi Point Lodge 60, Logan County Sheriff's Office, Bellefontaine Police Department, Russells Point PD, Washington Township Police Department, and all of the others who courageously serve Logan County and beyond.

Families are the foundation of every strong community—and when we work together, we can make sure no child or parent falls through the cracks.

As both a Family Court Judge and Chair of our local Logan County Family and Children First Council, I have the privilege of seeing what collaboration can truly accomplish. Our Council brings together schools, child welfare agencies, mental health providers, law enforcement, and community partners with one shared goal: better outcomes for children and families.

Through this partnership, we are able to break down barriers, coordinate services, and respond more effectively to the complex challenges families face. Whether it’s connecting a child to needed services, supporting parents in crisis, or creating prevention-focused programs, this work is about meeting families where they are—with compassion, accountability, and support.

The truth is, no single system can do this work alone. It takes communication, trust, and a commitment to putting children first—every time.

I am grateful to serve alongside Program Administrator Raylena Hayes and so many dedicated professionals who show up every day to make a difference. Together, we are building a stronger, more responsive network of care for the families in our community.

Today I was honored to attend the 2026 TCN Behavioral Health Sexual Assault Awareness Ceremony.

As a judge, I am reminded daily of the profound impact that sexual violence has on individuals, families, and our entire community. It is an issue that crosses every boundary—age, gender, background—and one that demands both our attention and our action.

This month is an opportunity to raise awareness, support survivors, and reaffirm our commitment to justice, dignity, and respect for all.

Prevention starts with education, accountability, and a shared responsibility to create safe environments in our homes, schools, and workplaces.

The Reach - Community Resource Center does just that and today its resource navigation team was recognized for their dedication to the youth and families in Logan County.

Together, we can continue working toward a community where everyone feels safe and supported.
