Sumpter Township, located in Southeast Michigan's Wayne County, covers an area of 37.4 sq mi with a population of approximately 10,000 residents. This Wayne County park, located at 27600 Haggerty Road, is a 1,050-acre mitigated wetland consisting of open marsh, wet meadows, forested wetlands, and upland forests. The park trail system and boardwalks allow park visitors viewing opportunities of a va

riety of wildlife. Crosswinds offers seven miles of hiking trails, fishing, picnic areas, 4.5 miles of horseback riding trails, and 4.5 miles of cross-country ski trails. For more information, visit:

Please be advised that trash collection services will be delayed by one (1) day during the week of Memorial Day due to the holiday on Monday, May 25, 2026.

For example, residents with Monday pickup service will be collected today, with all remaining collection days shifted back one day for the remainder of the week.

Memorial Day Closure Notice:

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday the Recycling Center will be CLOSED on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 and will RE-OPEN on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 with regular Wednesday hours 8a-4p.

All Township offices, including the Community & Senior activities and Programs, will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th, 2026 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. We’ll return, Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at 8:30 am.
