Heads up!

We’ve received numerous messages today about this “court notice” being sent to people across Johnson County.

It is, in fact, a scam. Here are some things to look out for:

1. All of the case numbers are the same and are in the incorrect format.

2. There isn’t a Judge Michael Rodriguez at the Johnson County District Court.

3. You will not receive a court notice through text message, especially on a holiday or a Sunday.

4. QR codes are not used to collect payment.

Please share this information with others who may have received the same “notice”. If you’re ever in doubt or worried about the validity, please call the District Court’s number listed on the official website.

We are asking our citizens to be on the lookout for this gray 1988 Olds Toronado with KS plates! Last seen around 8:45 pm on 3/25/26!

A Friendly Reminder as the weather warms up! Due to the multitude of complaints related to these last year the city adopted an ordinance pertaining to the little bikes so keep them off the streets please!

10.04.055. Operation of pocket bikes & mini all-terrain-vehicles.

Section 114.5 of the Standard Traffic Ordinance is hereby changed to read as follows:

(a) DEFINITIONS: For the purposes of this section, the following definitions apply:

Pocket bike/Mini bike/Mini all-terrain-vehicles shall be defined as small-scale replicas of full-sized motorcycles and all-terrain-vehicles, propelled by gasoline or electric motor, with 2, 3, or 4 wheels, and no vehicle identification number is located on the vehicle, nor can ownership of the vehicle be registered.

(b) The operation of pocket bikes, mini bikes, and mini all-terrain vehicles on the streets, sidewalks, roads, municipally owned parking lots, and alleys within the corporate limits of the City of Belleville is prohibited.

(c) If any child under the age of sixteen (16) years shall operate or ride any such pocket bike, mini bike, or mini all-terrain vehicle in the corporate limits of the City of Belleville as described above, the officer may take possession of such pocket bike, mini bike or mini all-terrain vehicle and take same to the police department in the city and there keep the same until the parents or guardian of such child are notified and until arrangements are made by such parent or guardian to comply with the requirements of this ordinance.
