Can We Find You in an Emergency?

In emergencies, first responders need to see your address. Please make sure your address is easy to spot.

Use numbers that are at least 4 inches tall and half an inch wide.

Choose contrasting colors.

Make sure the numbers are easy to see by using lights or reflective material.

Make the sign visible from both directions.

For long driveways or private roads, consider using multiple signs.

Now you can order a Township-Approved Address Sign. Van Buren Township offers reflective address signs for $20, including installation by the Fire Department crews. Each sign measures 6” x 12”.

Need a replacement? You can get one free if your sign is faded or broken. Visit vbtmi.gov or scan the QR code.

Denton Bridge Update June 11, 2026

We have received several questions about the Denton Road Bridge and its anticipated opening date. We wanted to provide an update on the bridge and expected timelines. Most of the contract work for the bridge will be completed around the 4th of July. The only outstanding item is the installation of the retaining wall top cap. We are working with Wayne County and the contractor to resolve this. It is not yet clear if the required solutions will keep the bridge closed. We will communicate updates as we learn more.

After the bridge items are completed, the contractor will begin repairs at the Belleville & Liberty intersection. This includes replacing deteriorated concrete. The work will take 4-6 weeks. It is our understanding that traffic will be maintained in both directions during the intersection work.

We understand and hear everyone’s concerns about the Denton Road Bridge closure and reopening. We emphasize these concerns with Wayne County and the contractor to ensure we do all we can to open the bridge quickly. If anyone has further questions, please contact us by email at [email protected]. We appreciate everyone’s patience over the years and look forward to opening the bridge as soon as possible.

With heat index values near 100°F expected through this evening, Wayne County residents are encouraged to take precautions during this period of extreme heat.

Cooling centers are available for those who need relief from the heat. Hot and humid conditions are expected to continue Thursday, and another Heat Advisory may be needed.
