Teen Read is on summer hiatus (that means we are taking a break while the summer reading program takes place). Hopefully we can reinstate the book club starting September, but WE NEED YOUR HELP! Teens should call the West Branch (618-233-4366) to sign up for their spot and to verify when the meeting will be held. Don't forget to sign up for the sumreadprog - it's not just for kids!

The next TEEN READ happens at Branch on Tuesday, APRIL 8th. We're hoping to discuss FLIP by Martyn Bedford. Talk about an identity crisis!

TONIGHT! The next TEEN READ meeting happens at 6:30 at the West Branch Library. Come talk about how you enjoyed Assassin or Zone One, or both. Help select the next item to read for our March 11th gathering. Will it be high fantasy, science fiction, angsty superpowered teenagers, or something else?

Cinda just finished FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell. Omigosh, was it good! Nothing supernatural within it or about it, but boy, would she like to recommend it for the Teen Read reading list. Has anybody else read it? Ever been a fan of Harry Potter or enjoyed writing your own fanfiction about someone else's creations? What if your work of fanfic was BETTER than real life? Could you get along with the changes that moving to college, getting a stranger for a roommate, and finding yourself stretched between family problems would bring when you still needed to write 10,000 more words on a deadline? Oh, and there's classes to attend as well. WHEW

TEEN READ has a half dozen new suggestions for our possible use in 2014. Some are action or apocalypse related - some feature the supernatural or superpowers. Would you rather read something historically accurate or based in another world altogether? These are the questions that will come up at our next gathering in ONE WEEK! Hope to see you there.

I've started the TEEN READ selection for January 14th, 2014 - Life As We Knew It by Susan Pfeffer. Already, I'm totally hooked. I can't wait to see what happens now that... oops, no spoilers until we meet on the second Tuesday of January!

Waiting to go to your Christmas Eve party? Watch a DVD you borrowed from the public library! I'm watching the Superman/Batman double feature, Public Enemies & Apocalypse. I know, it doesn't sound holiday related, but Supergirl is introduced in Apocalypse and Supes would have wanted to be with family (Spoiler! She's his cousin.) around the holidays, am I right?
