The “OPERATION SAVE-A-LIFE SMOKE ALARM DISTRIBUTION CAMPAIGN” has come to the Township of Belleville. This program provides free 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms for households lacking in adequate smoke alarm protection. Designed largely to assist single family homes, senior citizens, low-income residents, households with children and other members of the community in need. The availability of these life-saving devices will ensure that all residents have the ability to have a working smoke alarm, aiding in the increased protection of the Belleville community.

🚨 PSA: Clear Your Dryer Vent, Prevent a Fire or CO Poisoning! ❄️

As you dig out from the snowstorm, don't forget to check your dryer vent!
When snow and ice block your exterior dryer exhaust, it creates a serious fire hazard by trapping lint and heat inside.
It can also cause dangerous carbon monoxide to back up into your home if you have a gas dryer.

What to do:
✅ Take a walk around your home.
✅ Use a brush or your hands to clear a 2-3 foot radius around the exterior vent.
✅ Do not use a snowblower or metal shovel near plastic PVC pipes.
✅ NEVER leave your dryer running while you are away during the winter.
Stay safe and stay warm!

🚨 Flooding Alert – Main Street Closed 🚨

Attention all residents: Please stay away from Main Street — it is currently flooded due to heavy rain. Public Works, the Police Department, and the Fire Department have the street blocked off for your safety.

Do not attempt to drive through floodwater or go around any cones or barricades. Turn around!!!

The Belleville Fire Department is aware of recent posts on social media involving personal matters concerning one of our firefighters. While we understand that the public may have questions, we must emphasize that these are personal and private issues that do not involve any matters of public safety.

As a department, we are committed to the well-being of all our members. Out of respect for the individuals involved and their families, we will not be making any further comments on this situation. We ask that our community join us in honoring their privacy moving forward.

On June 24, 2024, Belleville Fire Department Shift 4 responded to a severe entrapment where a tree had collapsed onto a moving vehicle, pinning the driver inside. Thankfully, due to Shift 4s teamwork and training, they successfully removed the occupant in which she had made a full recovery.

This past Saturday at the NJ Valor Awards Shift 4 received The 2025 NJ FMBA GROUP EFFORT AWARD NON-FIRE

BFD would also like to thank the Belleville Police Department The Belleville DPW, and Twin Towing for their assistance.
