🚲⚡ Electric Bicycle Safety Reminder ⚡🚲

As electric bicycles continue to grow in popularity, we would like to share a few important reminders to help keep everyone safe on our roads, trails, and pathways.

✅ What is an Electric Bicycle?
• Equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of 750 watts or less
• Can provide motor assistance up to 20 mph with a throttle or up to 28 mph while pedaling
• Motor assistance stops once the bicycle reaches 28 mph

✅ Know Before You Ride
• A driver's license is not required to operate an electric bicycle
• Riders under the age of 16 may not operate a Class 3 electric bicycle capable of speeds up to 28 mph
• Electric bicycles are generally permitted on public roads and bike lanes, but riders must obey all traffic laws and bicycle regulations
• Check with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regarding electric bicycle use on state trails

🚫 Village Ordinance Reminder
For the safety of pedestrians and other sidewalk users:

• Electric bicycles and motor bicycles are prohibited from operating on public sidewalks within the Village
• Parents and guardians may not authorize or knowingly permit a child to violate Village ordinances related to bicycles, electric scooters, skateboards, roller skates, or other similar devices

🤝 We encourage all riders to be courteous, stay alert, wear appropriate safety gear, and help make our community's streets, trails, and pathways safe for everyone.

A Safe Haven Baby Box is more than just a box. It is a lifeline. It provides a safe, secure, and anonymous option for parents experiencing a crisis, while ensuring newborns receive immediate care and protection.

The Green County Sheriff's Office is working to bring this important resource to our area, and we commend their commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. While we hope a Safe Haven Baby Box is never needed, its presence can provide reassurance that help is available when someone feels they have nowhere else to turn.

If you are able, please consider supporting this important initiative through a donation. Together, we can help create a community where every family in crisis knows there is a safe place to turn.

HONOR VALOR SERVICE
An American Legion post serves as vital community hub and advocacy center. The Legion provides essential support, VA benefits assistance, and camaraderie for veterans, while also reinvesting in the Belleville community through youth programs, emergency relief, and civic engagement.
This Memorial Day please consider contributing to this worthy endeavor to honor those who gave their lives for the republic and to continue to improve our community through the service of Belleville’s American Legion Duppler-Smith Post.

The post is beginning a fundraising campaign to replace its longtime building, which members say has become increasingly difficult for veterans to access.

🚓 Click It or Ticket safety campaign reminds drivers and passengers to buckle up! 📢

Wearing a seat belt is one of the most effective ways to reduce injuries and save lives during a crash. During the Click It or Ticket campaign, we join officers throughout the state stepping up seat belt enforcement and education to prevent tragedies on our roads.

Wisconsin’s primary seat belt law allows law enforcement to stop and cite motorists for failing to wear a seat belt. Penalties are higher for transporting unrestrained children and passengers can also be cited. Failure to fasten a seat belt is among the most common traffic violations in Wisconsin.

Seat belts save lives, and everyone — front seat and back, child and adult — should make buckling a habit. Traveling on the road without a seat belt is dangerous. We are asking friends and family to remind each other to buckle up and help us keep the roads safe.

The Click It or Ticket campaign will run until May 31st, 2026.
