On 08-19-26 at approximately 0600 hours the Van Buren Township Police Department, Van
Buren Township Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance were dispatched to Haggerty
Road and Tyler, reference a 2-vehicle accident with a possible ejection. The preliminary
investigation revealed that this accident involved a vehicle traveling west bound on Tyler Road
and a vehicle traveling north bound on Haggerty Road that collided in the intersection.

On scene investigation determined that a 36-year-old male from Taylor was driving a Chevrolet Traverse west bound on Tyler Road when he entered the intersection striking a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling north bound on Haggerty Road. The driver of the Impala was pronounced deceased at the scene and identified as, Zachary Sikora, a 21-year-old male from Van Buren Township. The driver of the Traverse was transported by Huron Valley Ambulance to Trinity Hospital – Ann Arbor where he is listed in stable condition.

The Van Buren Township Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene to conduct
follow up investigation, collect data and secure physical evidence.

The accident remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed this accident or has information related to the incident is asked to contact Detective Dave Champagne or D/Lt. Kenneth Floro at (734) 699-8930.

On the Morning of August 12, 2026 at approximately 1:00am there was an incident on Sunset Pond Circle in which a home was struck with gunfire. There is no threat to the residents of Country Pond and this is believed to be an isolated incident.

Van Buren Township Police Department is asking any residents that have exterior home cameras in the area of Sunset Pond Circle and surrounding streets, or near the entrances and exits to review any video they may have.

Things to look for when reviewing video would be any persons walking, vehicles driving without headlights, vehicles that are circling the block, or vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed. Timeframe: August 12, 2026 between 12:30am and 1:15am

On 07-05-26 at approximately 0154 hours the Van Buren Township Police Department and Huron Valley Ambulance were dispatched to the North I-94 Service Drive near Independence Lane, just west of Archwood Apartments, referencing a male subject laying on the shoulder of the road.

The Van Buren Township Police Department arrived on scene to find a male subject laying on the north shoulder of the North I-94 Service Drive with extensive injuries. Huron Valley Ambulance arrived on scene and pronounced the male subject deceased. The responding officers conducted an initial scene investigation which revealed fresh accident debris. The Van Buren Township Accident Investigation Team was then called to the scene to conduct a follow up investigation, collect data and secure physical evidence. The Van Buren Township Investigative Division is following up on several leads in this incident.

The victim in this accident was identified as Michael James Przytula, a 37-year-old resident of Van Buren Township.

This accident remains under investigation and anyone with information about the incident or may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Detective David Champagne or D/Lt. Kenneth Floro at (734) 699-8930
