Senior Center of Van Buren Township Today the need for transportation continues to grow.

In 1976, September Days Senior Center was officially founded and landed its first home within the walls of Quirk Elementary School located on Quirk Road. After only three months of operation, the center’s membership reached 300 members and was well underway offering a variety of programs and services for mature adults. The center moved into the Van Buren Township Hall in the mid to late 80’s, and

through the years the center expanded in many ways. A beautiful large outdoor garden area was added where many events have taken place and a much needed Transportation Program was implemented in the early 90’s. Now almost 40 years later the membership is well over 2,000 with more than 30 weekly programs and classes ranging from fitness, photography, and computers just to name a few.

The Wayne County Congregate Nutrition Program provides healthy, balanced lunches for seniors at the Van Buren Township Senior Center, 46425 Tyler Road.

Join us Monday through Thursday between 10:45 and 11:30 AM for a warm meal and the chance to connect with others in a welcoming space.

Eligibility:

• Open to individuals aged 60 and older and their spouses.

• Disabled individuals under 60 may also attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Cost:

• Suggested donation: $3.00 per meal for eligible participants.

• Guest fee (under 60): $6.00 per meal.

How to Participate:

Sign up in advance to join the program. For registration or details, call the Van Buren Township Senior Center at 734-699-8918.

We hope to see you soon for a healthy meal and good conversation.

Looking for a safe, supportive way to stay active and reduce arthritis pain? Join our Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program!

This fun and gentle group program is designed to help improve flexibility, strength, balance, and overall well-being, all while connecting with others in the community. No fitness experience is needed, and exercises can be adapted for all ability levels.

Come move with us and take positive steps toward feeling better every day!

Classes will be held Mondays, June 8th - July 13th, Wednesdays, June 10th - July 15th, and Fridays, June 12th - July 17th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM.

Please Note: No class on June 19th

Our group had an incredible time in Detroit touring Comerica Park!

From getting a behind-the-scenes look to stepping out onto the field, every moment was unforgettable.

We even had the chance to see Miggy’s Triple Crown display up close. What an amazing experience! Go Tigers!

In observance of Memorial Day, the Van Buren Community Center will be closed on Monday, May 25.

As we enjoy the long weekend, we also pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

We had such a wonderful time at our recent Lunch & Learn with Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue🐾

A huge thank you to their team for coming out and sharing the incredible work they do and for bringing Ranger along! He definitely stole the show and brought so many smiles to our senior members ❤️

We’re also so grateful to our amazing community for showing up in such a big way. The outpouring of donations for FMAR was truly incredible, and it means so much to support an organization making a difference for animals in need.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this event so special. We love seeing our community come together!
