The Bellevue Cross Country team has had three conference meets. The varsity boys consist of three freshmen McCrae Goodrich, Clayton Winegar, and Sean Craft. Sam Lacey is our only middle school runner this season. The boys have been progressing along very well with everyone meeting and exceeding their own personal goals. Delilah Russ is the lone varsity girl, also a freshman. She has finished 1st place in two of the three races so far this season. This includes a 1st place finish over runners from Hillsdale Academy, the top ranked team in the state for Division 4 girls cross country. Delilah has had a personal best time of 22:19 which places her ninth on the top ten Bellevue girls cross country record board so far. With her early success, Delilah is setting her sights on reaching state this season, which is an amazing accomplishment for running cross country for the first time as a freshman. Next up for the team is the conference championship meet, then on to regionals to try and qualify for state. We are excited to hear about all the growth from these young runners as they got a late start on the season, starting almost 2 weeks late. This group of kids formed with the opportunity to re-establish a cross country program here at Bellevue and we’re proud of how hard they’ve worked so far and look forward to seeing this program grow in the coming years.
