🦸♀️Not all heroes wear capes. Some, aka Dawn, fly around with a grocery cart, aka her car, to rescue food from grocery stores to bring to The Hunger Coalition!🛒💥💥💥
Our hero Dawn is a volunteer at The Hunger Coalition who picks up carloads of groceries each week from our friends at Village Market and Atkinson’s to share with our community.
Ever notice the “sell-by” sticker on grocery items? It’s not a trash date. It’s a make-room date. Grocery stores rotate their shelves to bring in new inventory, sometimes weekly, if not daily! This creates a great opportunity for perfectly good groceries to end up in the hands of the people. This is where Dawn steps in, rescuing them before they ever go to waste.

🦸♀️No todos los héroes usan capa. Algunos, como Dawn, andan por ahí con un carrito de supermercado —también conocido como su auto— para rescatar comida de las tiendas y llevarla a The Hunger Coalition. 🛒💥💥💥
Nuestra he***na Dawn es voluntaria de The Hunger Coalition y cada semana recoge autos llenos de alimentos donados por nuestros amigos de Village Market y Atkinson’s para compartirlos con nuestra comunidad.
¿Alguna vez te fijaste en la etiqueta de “fecha de venta” en los productos del súper? No es una fecha de vencimiento para la basura, sino una fecha para hacer espacio. Los supermercados rotan sus estantes para traer inventario nuevo, ¡a veces cada semana, si no es que a diario! Esto crea una gran oportunidad para que alimentos en perfecto estado lleguen a manos de la gente. Y ahí es donde entra Dawn, rescatándolos antes de que se desperdicien.
