It’s National Friends of Libraries Week! Our Friends of Bayne Library is made up of volunteers who love our library. From the Itty Bitty Art Show to spaghetti dinners to basket raffles - all fundraising they do goes back to support our programs (like summer reading gift cards and program presenters!) and purchase items like our kitchen play set or newer chairs.

A special thank you to our friends Firefighter Bill and Firefighter Jack from the Bellevue Fire Department for stopping by preschool storytime this morning! We learned about what is on a fire truck, the gear firefighters need to wear to protect themselves, got to visit the inside of the truck, and got our own hats and badges! 🚒

Preschool Storytime is every Thursday at 10:30 and for ages 3-5. Next week we are reading about squirrels!

Updated location! The annual Halloween parade will now begin at Avalon Elementary. The parade steps off at 11 am on Saturday, October 31!

Have you seen our new sticker? We are officially a part of the WQED Learning Neighborhood! We’ve partnered with them on several fun activities and projects the past few years and now we get to make it official! Be on the look out for more great things to come!

October 4-10th is Banned Books Week, in conjunction with the American Library Association and Banned Books Coalition. Banned Books Week is an annual event that highlights the value of free and open access to information. You can find out more at bannedbooksweek.org, including lists of the top most challenged books in 2025 & in history and also pledge to take action on Freedom to Read Day on October 10th.

October has lots going on…with more to come! 🎃

Our regular storytimes are Tuesday (toddlers), Wednesday (babies), and Thursday (preschoolers) at 10:30. The Bellevue Fire Department will be bringing their truck to Preschool Storytime on 10/15! (All are welcome!)

Our Five & Under Friday free play time returns on 10/9, 10/16, and 10/30 at 11 AM! (Yes, the flyer is wrong, yay schedule changes!)

BookVue book club is on 10/8 at 6PM at vintagemaxbooksandgifts! Our theme is banned books, since it’s Banned Books Month.

Book discussion meets on 10/13 at 2 PM! This month’s read is “Her Last Breath” by Taylor Adams. You can pick up a copy at the library (ask at the front desk)!

Classics book discussion is on 10/27 at 2 PM. This month’s book is “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. You can pick up a copy at the library (ask at the front desk)!
