Joint Press Release – Sheriff’s Office Assists Bellevue Marshal with Investigation

On Friday, September 26, 2025, at approximately 0925 hours, Blaine County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shots-fired call on Main Street and Cedar Street in Bellevue, Idaho. Upon arriving on scene, BCSO deputies assisted the Bellevue Marshal’s Office in securing the scene. Following the incident, the Bellevue Marshal’s Office requested that the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office conduct a joint investigation.

The investigation included searching the vehicle for any additional evidence and interviewing the involved law enforcement officers and witnesses. Crime scene investigation determined that George W. Tischer, age 82 of Bellevue, Idaho, was driving northbound on Main St. in Bellevue when the Bellevue Marshal conducted a traffic stop. As Marshal Gaston approached the rear of the vehicle, he heard a single gunshot and requested additional law enforcement to his location. It was determined that Tischer suffered an intentional self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tischer was transported by ground ambulance to the St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
