run independent field campaigns to get out the vote. We are FDR Democrats, trying to do what FDR did in the 20s, rebuilding
the Democratic Party to make it progressive again. How we select candidates. We have a rigorous process to make sure that every candidate we support is a true progressive. We don't just have them fill out a questionnaire; we interview the candidates, and go through their back
ground and their voting record. It's important to make sure we're not wasting our time and money on conservative, blue dog Democrats. All of our candidates must support at a minimum these things:
• women's rights, including the right to reproductive health care and freedom from discrimination;
• gay rights, including the freedom to marry;
• environmental protection, including clean air, clean water, and a halt to global climate change;
• and universal health care, which again includes reproductive health care. Just electing Democrats is not enough. In 2009 Democrats had the biggest majority in Congress since 1968, but they weren't able to use the majority. Too many Democrats in Congress believed in conservative policies - for example they believed that tax cuts are the only thing that can help the economy. The reality is, we've been cutting taxes for decades and we've got more people out of work than we've ever had in the history of the United States. This is a direct result of the way Democrats have approached candidate recruitment. They have tried their hardest to get conservative candidates in the hope they can hold on to swing seats, but in the end it didn't work. They lost the majority without passing much of anything progressive. Conservative policy doesn't work. Policy that doesn't work doesn't win swing voters. A swing voter doesn't care how conservative you are if they don't have a job or a home. We need congressmen that will support progressive policy. The way we help our candidates raise money. We are the only organization that develops individual supporter lists with our endorsed candidates. In addition, we train candidates in how to raise money, so that they can compete with their well-funded Republican opponents. Many candidates don't know how to get started running a serious campaign, and we get them started. We run independent field campaigns to increase turnout. Many districts suffer from low turnout because they are not in swing states and the national Democratic Party has ignored them in favor of the presidential race. In these lower turnout districts we can cherry pick the low hanging fruit and win them with progressive candidates. Unlike the official Democratic Party organizations - the DNC, DSCC, DCCC - we have no limits on what we can spend on these campaigns, and no limits on the size of contributions. We spend our time, money and effort in identifying and getting the maximal number of voters to the polls. DAPAC works to move America in a positive direction - in a progressive direction:
1. We only support candidates who have true progressive vision.
2. We get them started running a serious campaign.
3. We make certain our voters make it to the polls. We need your help to succeed. Please consider donating on our website: www.dapac.org!
