Maybe it’s the calm before the storms expected later tonight, but Bellevue residents were certainly making the most of a beautiful Saturday morning.

There was a great crowd at the Bellevue Farmers Market, enjoying fresh produce, local vendors, and tasty treats, while Baldwin Field was buzzing with activity as parents, grandparents, and young athletes took to the fields for another fun-filled morning of tee-ball and coach-pitch games.

Happy Saturday, Bellevue!

Perfect weather, a great band, and a fantastic crowd made for a wonderful evening at Washington Park tonight as The Brits brought the sounds of classic British rock to the Bellevue Recreation Department’s Music in the Park concert series.

It was great to see so many families, friends, and neighbors enjoying a beautiful summer evening together while listening to live music in one of Bellevue’s favorite community gathering spots.

If you missed tonight’s performance, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy this popular free concert series. Concerts are held every Thursday from 7:00–8:00 p.m. at the Washington Park Pavilion (20th & Franklin).

Please enjoy this short video clip from tonight’s concert, and be sure to mark your calendar for one of the upcoming performances. We look forward to seeing you at the park this summer!

It was a beautiful summer evening, and Bellevue showed up in a big way for the first Family Fishing Night of the season at American Heroes Park . In fact, it may have been a record turnout! Best of all, the fish were definitely biting, and there were smiles all around as young anglers and first-time fishermen reeled in their catches.

A special thank you goes out to Jim Shada and the Bellevue Recreation Department, as well as Larry Pape and the outstanding volunteers from Nebraska Game and Parks, who helped make the event such a success. Their patience and expertise ensured that everyone had an opportunity to catch a fish, learn new skills, and safely unhook their catch before releasing it back into the lake.

The City of Bellevue would also like to thank Larry Pape for donating the new fishing line recycling bin and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for providing the new educational kiosks near the lake that help anglers identify the different fish species found in American Heroes Park Lake.

Family Fishing Night and Discover Fly Fishing is a wonderful partnership that introduces families to the outdoors through hands-on instruction in casting, fly tying, fishing techniques, and more. Events like this help create lasting memories while encouraging the next generation of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made tonight such a special event. Be sure to check out the photos, and if you missed it, look for details of the next Family Fishing night later in July.

Look who’s back at Don Roddy Field at Bellevue East High School to get some practice in before the Men’s College World Series Championship Series begins on Saturday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.

Who would have ever thought it but maybe Bellevue has provided a little bit of good luck to the Sooners as they try to win college baseballs biggest prize.

A reminder that City of Bellevue offices and the Bellevue Public Library will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. The day has become a national observance recognizing freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

As always, the Bellevue Police Department and Bellevue Fire Department will continue to provide services 24 hours a day. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

Trash collection service for Bellevue residents will not be affected by the holiday and will operate on its normal schedule.

Residents are invited to attend a Public Information Meeting for the Whitted Creek Improvements Project.

The City of Bellevue, in partnership with Jacobs Engineering, will host a pre-construction public meeting to discuss upcoming improvements to Whitted Creek between South 25th Street and Lynnwood Drive, near Stonecroft Park.

The project is being undertaken to address erosion along the creek's steep vertical banks, which have created safety concerns and pose a threat to nearby properties. Planned channel stabilization improvements will help protect the area, improve public safety, and preserve the long-term health of the creek corridor.

5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Bellevue Volunteer Firefighter Hall

A pretty cool ceremony took place tonight at the Lied Activity Center baseball fields that says a lot about the patriotism of our Bellevue/Offutt community.

Before taking the field, Coach William Blair and the BJSA 9U Bruins Baseball Team paused to honor the veterans who have served our country. As the team huddled before the game, each player introduced the veteran they had chosen to honor and shared a brief story about why that individual was important to them, their family, and our community. It was a heartfelt reminder of the sacrifices made by so many and the gratitude we owe them.

Then in the pregame ceremony, veterans from the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps were recognized while both teams stood proudly along the foul lines.

Veterans received commemorative Bruins-style shirts, and tribute shirts displayed on the backstop honored veterans who are no longer with us.

Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike joined the festivities and threw a strike for the ceremonial first pitch before the Bruins took on the La Vista Panthers. A special thank you to the Panthers for participating in this meaningful tribute and to all the players who continued honoring veterans throughout the evening as they were introduced at the plate.

It was a nice night for baseball, but even more importantly, it was a great night for honoring the men and women who have served our nation. Nice job, Bruins!
