SchooLinks is the adopted platform for High School and Beyond Plans for all BSD secondary students. Through SchooLinks, students in grades 6-12 can explore their interests, strengths and goals while taking charge of their learning journey.

As summer approaches, we're sharing some SchooLinks reminders to our secondary students and their families, including information about submitting High School and Beyond plans, community service hours tracking, and the College Application Manager.

In honor of Gun Violence Awareness Day, we’re spotlighting a remarkable group of Odle Middle School students who are using their voices to advocate for stronger gun safety education in our schools.

What began as a passion project in Mr. Tillotson's class grew into meaningful collaboration with local senators, activists, county officials, the Bellevue Police Department, and BSD leadership. Through their work, these students have deepened their understanding of gun safety and created valuable resources for our community.

Last night, they took their advocacy even further by presenting at the BSD Board Meeting to advocate for the inclusion of gun safety education in high school Health and PE classes.

We’re incredibly proud of these students for extending their learning beyond the classroom and taking action to help make BSD a safer place. We invite our BSD community to wear orange this weekend as a show of support of Everytown for Gun Safety's call to end gun violence.

Congratulations to our very own Ken Wong, for receiving King County Council's Martin Luther King, Jr. Medal of Distinguished Service! Recipients of this award have answered the question: "What are you doing for others?" As a social worker in BSD, and a respected leader involved in many Eastside organizations, Ken's work has helped countless youth and adults learn and grow. Congratulations, Ken! Thank you for showing us what it means to serve with others and helping build our Beloved Community.

Creativity, storytelling and student voice on full display! 🎨📚

Students in Ms. Cortez’s 3rd and 4th grade Dual Language class at Sherwood Forest hosted their very own Comic Con — celebrating the graphic novels they created after adapting May B. by Caroline Starr Rose.

Families were invited to meet the student-authors, explore their work, and celebrate the creativity and collaboration behind each project. What an incredible way to bring literature to life while honoring student voice and imagination!

BSD is forming an EdTech Design Team and we're inviting students, families and staff to apply! The Design Team will review how educational technology is used across the district -- including topics such as how devices are used, screen time, access to platforms such as YouTube, cell phones and other personal devices, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The team will develop shared beliefs and guiding principles to inform future policy and practice, and create actionable recommendations that support student learning, engagement, innovation, and equity.

If you're interested, please complete the application survey by June 5. Visit https://www.bsd405.org/about-us/news/news-details/~board/bsd-news/post/apply-to-join-the-bellevue-school-district-edtech-design-team for the application link and additional information about the EdTech Design Team.

BSD seeks to create a safe, caring and respectful environment for the diverse students, families and staff in our Beloved Community. During the month of June, we celebrate Pride Month by affirming the identity of members of the LGBTQIA+* community and recognizing the impact that le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, intersex and asexual individuals have had on our collective history.

Bellevue School District believes that students learn best in safe, secure and stable environments. Inclusive practices support each and every student’s ability to empathize, connect and collaborate with a diverse group of peers, and encourages respect. This priority has shown to result in better academic and mental health outcomes and aligns with BSD’s vision to affirm and inspire each and every student to learn and thrive as creators of their future world.

*LGBTQIA+ includes le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r and/or questioning, intersex and asexual and is inclusive of the affirmative ways that individuals may choose to self-identify.
