🎉 HAPPY RETIREMENT, ED! 🎉

Today, we said farewell to a longtime member of our Police Department family, Ed Foreman, as he begins a well-earned retirement after nearly 30 years of service to our community.

Ed’s journey with the City began in 1997 as a part-time employee, working with Bellevue TV and at the Bellevue Police Department front desk. In 2006, Ed transitioned to a full-time position with Code Enforcement, where he would spend the next 20 years serving the citizens of Bellevue.

If you’ve had the opportunity to work with Ed, speak with him, or simply get to know him over the years, you already know what an incredible person he is. Ed brought knowledge, dedication, patience, and a genuine commitment to helping people every single day.

For many years, Ed has been the backbone of Code Enforcement, and saying he leaves behind some pretty big shoes to fill would be an understatement.

More importantly, we’re going to miss the person behind the job, a great coworker, a familiar face, and a friend to so many.

Ed, thank you for nearly three decades of service to the City of Bellevue and its residents. We wish you nothing but happiness and plenty of adventures in whatever comes next.

Happy retirement, Ed! Enjoy the days ahead you’ve certainly earned them! 👏🎉

🚔 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT RESULTS 🚔

On August 31, officers from the Bellevue Police Department, La Vista Police Department , Papillion Police Department, Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, and Nebraska State Patrolteamed up for a Traffic Enforcement Grant at various locations throughout the area.

Here are the results from the enforcement effort:

🚓 83 Total Traffic Stops
📝 92 Total Citations

💨 75 Speed Citations
🚦 2 Moving Citations
📋 3 Non-Moving Citations
⚖️ 1 Misdemeanor Arrest
💊 1 Misdemeanor Drug Arrest
🍺 1 DUI Arrest

These enforcement efforts aren’t about numbers, they’re about reducing dangerous driving behaviors and helping keep our roadways safe for everyone.

A big thank you to our partner agencies for continuing to work alongside us to make Sarpy County a safer place to travel.

The City of Bellevue Public Works Department is advising motorists of a temporary northbound lane closure on 25th Street just north of Highway 370 beginning Tuesday, September 8, as crews complete pavement repairs.
25th Street will be closed to northbound traffic in the work area. As shown in the provided detour map, northbound motorists will be directed to continue west on Highway 370 and use the designated alternate route to access areas north of the construction zone. Southbound traffic on 25th Street will continue to be maintained through the area.
Repairs are expected to be completed and 25th Street reopened to northbound traffic by Friday afternoon, September 11.
Motorists should anticipate delays, follow posted detour signs and use extra caution around the work zone. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as our Street Department completes these necessary pavement repairs

Today, officers from the Bellevue Police Department , in partnership with the Sarpy County Traffic Safety Task Force, conducted focused traffic enforcement throughout our community.

The goal isn’t to write tickets; it’s to reduce crashes, prevent injuries, and encourage safe driving habits. Every traffic stop is an opportunity to remind drivers that small choices behind the wheel can have life-changing consequences.

Whether you’re commuting to work, running errands, or heading home to your family, you can help make our roads safer by:
🚦 Obeying posted speed limits
📱 Putting the phone down while driving
🚗 Buckling up every trip, every time
🚫 Never driving impaired
🚸 Staying alert for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists

Thank you to our law enforcement partners for working together to keep Sarpy County roads safe.

Remember… getting there a few minutes later is always better than not getting there at all.

🎣👮‍♂️ What a GREAT morning at Cops & Bobbers! 👮‍♀️🎣

We couldn’t have asked for a better morning with our incredible community! Thank you to everyone who came out, dropped a line, shared some laughs, and helped make this our most successful Cops & Bobbers to date! ❤️

Events like this don’t happen without some amazing community partners, and we owe a HUGE thank you to:

🎣 VFW Post 10727 for once again allowing us to use your beautiful facility and being such gracious hosts.

🍔 Dino’s Storage for manning the grill and serving up a delicious lunch for everyone.

👏 Knights of Columbus for your continued support and for helping make the morning special.

👮‍♂️ And our incredible VIPER Unit for spending the morning helping the kids fish, bait hooks, untangle lines, and hopefully create a few memories along the way.

🎣 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for providing the fishing equipment that helped get those lines in the water and made it possible for so many kids to participate.

At the end of the day, Cops & Bobbers isn’t really about catching fish—it’s about building relationships, spending time together, and connecting with the community we’re so fortunate to serve.

Judging by the smiles we saw this morning, we’d say the fish weren’t the only thing biting. 😄🎣

Apparently, today is NOT National Hot Dog Day… it’s National Dog Day! 🐾

We’re going to blame it on an unfortunate combination of too much enthusiasm and not enough calendar checking. 🤦‍♂️

But honestly, this gives us an even better reason to celebrate!

Today we recognize our incredible K9 partners who serve the Bellevue Police Department and our community with loyalty, courage, and dedication. These four-legged officers are more than just partners they’re an important part of the BPD family, and they serve right alongside our officers with honor every single day. 💙🐾

So, to our K9 partners: Enjoy your day, you’ve earned it!

We mustard-mit… we relish a good hot dog. What we don’t relish is excessive speed. 😎

Speeding isn’t just about getting a ticket. The faster you’re traveling, the less time you have to react when something unexpected happens; and the greater the impact when a crash occurs.

So whether you’re headed across town, off to work, or making an emergency run for a chili cheese dog:
