Happy National Custodian Day! Today we’re celebrating Dave Weaver and 42 years of service to Bellflower Unified School District. 💙

Dave first answered a BUSD hiring announcement in 1983—and he still has it! Since becoming a permanent employee in 1984, he’s spent decades caring for our schools and the people in them.

Ask Dave what he loves most about his work, and he’ll tell you it’s the camaraderie: “I work with wonderful people, some of which are like family.” That feeling goes both ways. Dave’s kindness, positivity, and willingness to lend a hand make a difference every day.

Thank you, Dave, for everything you do for the BUSD family! 👏

From picking up a tennis racket for the first time Bellflower Middle/High School to being featured by Telemundo 52 Los Angeles—what a journey for Bellflower High School’s Samuel Mendoza! 🎾

Samuel went from #7 in league doubles as a freshman to #1 in doubles as a sophomore. By his junior year, he was the undefeated Mid-Cities League Division 6 singles champion, finishing 18–0.

His story is a reminder of why sports in schools matter: they give students a chance to discover what they’re capable of. Congratulations, Samuel! 👏

Bellflower Unified schools have served generations of students—but many campuses are more than 70 years old and need important updates to support safe, modern learning.

On November 3, 2026, voters will consider Measure SM, a proposed $135 million school facilities bond focused on safety and security upgrades, classroom repairs, technology, career education spaces, and long-term campus improvements.

The measure includes independent oversight, annual audits, and public reporting. Funds may only be used for voter-approved projects—not salaries or daily operating expenses.
