The Bellingham City Council is a legislative body responsible for setting public policy. There is one Council Member for each of the six city wards and one Council Member-at-Large. Their terms are staggered, so voters choose three ward Council Members and the Council Member-at-Large in each municipal general election. Council Members serve four-year terms, and the Council Member-at-Large serves a two-year term.
