🚨 Bellingham Remains Under a Level 2 – Significant Drought 🚨

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has continued the Level 2 – Significant Drought designation for our region. While recent rainfall has provided some relief, groundwater and streamflow conditions remain below normal, and water conservation remains important.

đź’§ What Residents Can Do
Please help conserve water by:

• Limiting outdoor watering to only what is necessary for the health and safety of plants.
• Watering during early morning or evening hours to reduce evaporation.
• Avoiding washing vehicles at home whenever possible.
• Using a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways, sidewalks, and patios.
• Repairing leaking faucets, toilets, irrigation systems, and outdoor spigots.
• Running dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.

The Town of Bellingham continues to closely monitor water supply conditions and will provide updates as conditions change.

Every gallon saved helps protect our water resources and ensures a reliable water supply for residents, businesses, and public safety needs.

It’s National Public Works Week!
May 17–23, 2026

The Town of Bellingham Public Works Department is proud to recognize and celebrate National Public Works Week.

This week, we thank the dedicated men and women who work every day to keep Bellingham running smoothly. From maintaining our roads and infrastructure to ensuring reliable water and wastewater systems, Public Works plays a vital role in protecting public health, safety, and quality of life.

The 2026 theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” highlights the commitment of those who serve behind the scenes—often unnoticed—helping our community stay strong and connected.

From snow and ice control in the winter, to road maintenance, drainage, and daily operations year-round, your efforts truly make a difference right here in Bellingham.

👏 Please join us in thanking our Bellingham Public Works team for their hard work and dedication!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hartford Avenue Water Treatment Plant PFAS upgrades.

We were proud to be joined by local and state officials, along with representatives from the U.S. EPA, MassDEP, and our project and funding partners. Your presence and continued support underscore the importance of this investment—not just for Bellingham, but as part of a broader effort to address PFAS and protect public health.

This project represents a significant step forward in improving water quality and ensuring a safe, reliable drinking water supply for our community. We are grateful for the partnership of the Massachusetts State Revolving Fund program and for the Community Project Funding that helped make this project possible.

We look forward to advancing construction in the months ahead and delivering these critical improvements for Bellingham residents.

🚨Water Use Restriction 🚨

The Town of Bellingham MA reminds water users of the annual water use restriction that takes effect May 1st and runs through October each year.

We continue to urge all residents and businesses to be mindful of water usage and to actively promote conservation. Our future supply depends on it.

Please do your part to conserve water:
• Fix household leaks
• Take shorter showers
• Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full
• Follow all water use restrictions currently in place

Together, we can help protect Bellingham’s water resources.
