It’s been a difficult but humbling week and a half here in Whatcom County. So much devastation from this flood but what’s come out of that for me is hope and inspiration. I’ve seen our community show up and come together for one another. I’ve also seen first hand the impressive coordination and emergency response and recovery of our cities, county, state, federal, tribes, first responders, and many many others. It’s been an honor to join the daily briefing calls, volunteer in the EOC call center, attend multijurisdictional meetings, and help mucking out homes in Nooksack. I am proud of our County team for all of their amazing work. I’m also proud of our community. We have a long road ahead for our recovery and some very tough decisions to make, but my sleeves are rolled up and I’m ready to get to work. We are all in this together!

Join Councilmembers Galloway and Scanlon on Thursday, December 11 from 3:00-5:15 p.m. at the Fairhaven Library for the final Community Conversations event of 2025!

As a reminder, the Community Conversations series was initiated to provide space outside the formal setting of Council meetings where residents can connect with councilmembers to talk about the issues impacting their communities and share their hopes and ideas for Whatcom County's future.

Great article outlining the decision before us. I am a staunch supporter of the EMS system and have been working very closely with the Fire Chiefs, Fire Commissioners, and IAFF Local 106 on this issue.

Amazing Farm to Forest tour hosted by Whatcom Family Farmers and Hampton Lumber! We visited Samson Estates Winery, Coldstream Farm, and active Hampton forest land. We live in such an awesome place with awesome people doing awesome work.

Awesome to join the Northwest Straits Initiative Commission in Bellingham yesterday. We started the day off learning about the Whatcom Marine Resources Committee Wildcat Cove project that educates people and protects the area eelgrass.
