C-Shift got together for some rural water operations training yesterday. Rural water operations training simulates areas where no fire hydrants are available. South Whatcom Fire Engines carry 750 gallons of water and our Water Tender carries 3000 gallons.

🚑🚨At 7:43 PM on 08/13/26 our Sudden Valley station was dispatched to an EMS incident with a reported unconscious patient at Marigold Dr. & Clubhouse Cir. Upon arrival, SWFA crews found multiple bystanders rendering aid to the patient, directing traffic, and more community members offering to help.

All of these actions from the community were greatly appreciated and helped us provide the best possible care.

BR28 Crew is Back Home!

Yesterday afternoon, our BR28 crew of Lt. Wray, FF Steele, and FF Prestia returned home after 15 days gone assisting on multiple wildland fires across the state. They spent most of their assignment working night shift so they are glad to be home!

🔥 BRUSH 28 MOBILIZATION UPDATE

We have had a lot of excitement over the reopening of Station 22, but we have also been keeping track of our Brush 28 (BR28) crew mobilized on July 26th to assist with the Bradeen Fire in Stevens County. Their strike team has been assigned to the night shift on the Bradeen and Modrite fires for the last several days and working with other crews from all over the state.

Tonight, BR28 and their strike team are being de-mobilized from the Bradeen and Modrite fires and being sent directly to assist with the damaging fires in Spokane.

Mobilized crews can be deployed for up to 14 days before needing a rest period. We continue to be grateful for our members' willingness to participate in this program and be away from their families while helping however they can in communities throughout the state. Thank you! Stay safe!

Ahead of our announcement for a public open house, here are a couple of photos of the main living quarters.

Many past members and community members remember a very different interior, but this new design is brighter and more functional for a 24/7 staffed station, and will take the station forward for serving this community for decades to come.

🚒 🎉 This morning, Engine 22 (E22) and Aid 22 (A22) were placed back into service at the Sudden Valley Fire Station after our extended absence for repairs and renovation. We are happy to be back!

📢 🚒 EXCITING NEWS! SUDDEN VALLEY FIRE STATION NOW OPEN

Effective 8:00 AM this morning, we are now fully operational at Station 22 in Sudden Valley.

After over two years of being closed, due to an initial pipe break and significant water damage, and then a planned renovation project, we are happy to report we are back to being staffed 24/7.

We thank the community for their patience and continuous support through this frustratingly long process.

We will be announcing an Open House date very soon once we get situated.

🚒 Last night, three SWFA firefighters on Brush 28 (BR28) deployed to the Bradeen Hills Fire in Stevens County as a part of a Strike Team. They could be gone up to 14 days and working 12-14 hour days. Costs for the firefighters and equipment are reimbursed to SWFA through the State All-Risk Mobilization Plan.

Wildland Firefighting resources throughout the state and neighboring states are extremely limited due to the large numbers of fires, and weather patterns causing rapid fire growth.
