Last week, members of our team visited some of the 1st graders at Wade King Elementary for a fire safety lesson. Of course their favorite part was the 🚒!

Thank you to Lt. Squire, FF Werner, and FF Murphy for coming in off-duty to help; and to our Station 28 (Samish Way) crew of Lt. McVicker, FF Johnson, and FF Rentas for bringing the main attraction!

🥞🥞🥞 We are excited to share the date for the Annual Pancake Breakfast event on June 20th, 2026 from 8AM - 12 PM.

Thank you to our South Whatcom Firefighters Association for their dedication to putting on this community event year after year!

There are going to be some new, exciting activities this year too!

Join us for our Annual Pancake Breakfast on June 20th from 8AM–12PM at South Whatcom Fire Authority ST21.

Enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and more while supporting your local firefighters association.

Entry is free but a suggested donation amount is $7 per person. We’ll have fun activities for the kids and plenty of chances to meet your local firefighters!

Bring your friends, bring your appetite, and come hang out with the crew!

Today, we honor and remember fallen U.S. service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Our Administrative Offices are closed in recognition of the holiday. Our fire stations are staffed normally and ready to serve.

🌲 🔥 FREE WILDLAND FIRE HOME ASSESSMENTS

We are now taking requests and scheduling individual home assessments throughout our community to provide tips on how to make your property and home more defensible against wildfires.

✅ Assessments generally take approximately 1-hour
✅ Recommendations are customized for your home based on best practices
✅ Firefighters are trained using national standards, but tailored to our local area.
✅ Short-term and long-term recommendations can be given
✅ Results are for education and are not punitive or an enforcement tool

🚒 🧑‍🚒 ANNUAL FAMILY SAFETY FAIR! -- JUNE 6, 2026

Join us, along with MANY other public safety organizations, for the annual Family Safety Fair at Barkley Village.

So many fun family activities and educational opportunities including:

✅ Fire trucks
✅ Police cars and rescue vehicles
✅ Rescue boats
✅ Helicopter
✅ Bike Safety Course (bring your own bike and helmet!)

Our Geneva Station crew recently had fire safety visits from the neighborhood Waldorf School.

The kids were given some important fire safety lessons of course, but then got to the really fun part....fire engines and fire hoses! 🚒 🧑‍🚒 🔥

We love interacting with our community, especially the kids....And the kids at heart!

🚒 🌲 ANNOUNCEMENT: WILDLAND FIRE HOME ASSESSMENT PROGRAM

As wildland fire risk and frequency continue to increase in our region, South Whatcom Fire Authority is excited to announce that this year we are offering residents the opportunity to register for home assessments to increase your resiliency and defensibility in the event of a wildland fire.

Our specially trained staff will help:

🌲 Identify specific risks around your home that may lead to more damage during a wildfire.

🌲 Provide real-world recommendations for short- and long-term improvements to increase defensibility in the event of a wildfire.

🌲 Provide emergency preparedness tips and recommendations for emergency alert notification registration.

We are happy to provide this service in partnership with a grant from Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Note: These assessments are completely voluntary and informational. We provide recommendations and not requirements by any authority having jurisdiction.
