The Conservation Commission administers Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 131, section 40, (The Wetlands Protection Act) and as such reviews a variety of applications including Requests for Determination of Applicability, Abbreviated Notices of Intent, Abbreviated Notices of Resource Area Delineation, and Notices of Intent. Site inspections and reviews are con

ducted in conjunction with most filings. In addition, the Commission meets with proponents, consultants, and other town boards and their consultants to provide guidance and input relative to the specified Interests of The Wetlands Protection Act including: private water supply, groundwater supply, flood control, storm damage prevention, prevention of pollution, protection of land containing shellfish, protection of fisheries and protection of wildlife habitat. As part of its duties, the Commission manages its current properties while seeking to expand Conservation Commission holdings by donation, purchase or Conservation Restrictions and implement targeted items in the town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan. Conservation Commission meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in the Wilfred Arcand Meeting Room located on the main level of the Municipal Center.
