The FBI's Seattle Field Office is assisting the Bellingham Police Department in Washington with the search for Devariae Montrel Conley. Conley was arrested on April 20, 2020, for violent felony assault with domestic violence tag in Bellingham, Washington. Prior to sentencing, Conley fled which resulted in the issuance of felony arrest warrants. On February 28, 2023, Conley was charged with Failure to Appear in the Superior Court of the State of Washington for Whatcom County, Bellingham, Washington, and a state warrant was issued for his arrest. Please see this important update from the Bellingham Police Department. We have processed several calls this evening reporting this scam. When in doubt, please hang up and dial the trusted and publicly posted phone number for an organization to verify authenticity.

Scams such as this should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

Scam Advisory!

Our officers have taken some reports today where residents are receiving scam calls. The callers are pretending to be from PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center and are delivering shocking news that a loved one is injured and on life support, not expected to live much longer. So far there have been no demands for money, just the news the loved one may die.

Please hang up and use the official number to the hospital mentioned in the call (do not redial the incoming number) and check to see if your loved one is legitimately at the hospital. Please do not race to the hospital in fear, as it is likely a scam. To what end they are doing this, we do not yet know.

If you receive a call, and determine it is a scam, report the phone number to www.ftc.gov.

Celebrate Safely, Ferndale!

As you prepare for Independence Day festivities, please remember that fireworks can be enjoyed safely and responsibly in Ferndale on July 4 from 9:00 a.m. to midnight.

Practice Safety:
💧 Keep a hose or bucket of water nearby
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Ensure kids are supervised at all times
👀 Be aware of your surroundings
🗑️ Soak used fireworks thoroughly

It’s that time of the year again.

Fireworks can only be discharged in the City of Blaine one day a year. On the 4th of July, from 10am to 11:59pm you can legally discharge fireworks.

As always, please discharge fireworks responsibly. Have a bucket of water, or a garden hose, or a fire extinguisher ready to go.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the Bellingham Fire Department reminds everyone that all consumer fireworks are prohibited within Bellingham city limits. This includes sparklers, fountains, Roman candles, aerial fireworks, and even fireworks legally purchased elsewhere in Whatcom County.

Every year, our firefighters respond to preventable injuries and fires caused by consumer fireworks. The safest way to celebrate is to leave the fireworks to the professionals and enjoy the 2026 Peoples Bank Fourth of July Spectacular over Bellingham Bay at Zuanich Point Park.
