Yesterday we held our annual MMIP event and I truly appreciate our Lummi Victims of Crime team and how hard they worked together to make this happen for our community.

I want to thank everyone who came to support our event. Each year we host this it seems to bring us all together as we honor our lost relatives.

I believe we had a record registration of approximately 225? Give or take a couple.

I appreciate the support of our tribal leaders, neighboring communities who attended Bellingham Police Department, Representative from Bellingham Mayor’s office, DVSAS, DVSA Commission of whatcom, of course our LNPD that helped us walk safely.

Documenting patterns and instances of dating abuse in all its forms can be an important step for some survivors. It may help preserve information for legal purposes, while also providing clarity and validation when processing complex experiences.

Approaches to documentation can look different for everyone, and should always prioritize personal safety. Explore ways to document abuse and access additional resources: https://bit.ly/3YTgXyXhttps://bit.ly/3YTgXyX

πŸ‘– This Wednesday is β€” a powerful reminder that what someone wears is never an excuse for sexual violence.

Join RAINN and millions across the country by wearing denim to stand in solidarity with survivors and raise awareness about harmful victim-blaming myths. πŸ’™

πŸ“£ Spread the word, tag a friend, and get your denim ready. Let’s turn awareness into action.
