2026 MOUNT BAKER ANNUAL MEETING SUMMARY

1)Financial Status – We have approximately $290,000 in the Bank Accounts/CD’s. 2025 was a year where we spent more than we brought in. The main reason was that we had to replace the River Well pump and a check valve that cracked.

2)We are continually searching for leaks in the system and hope everyone keeps an eye out for anything that looks out of place. We repaired 3 large leaks last year; the check valve at the river well, a service line on smith road and a leak at the meter on smith road, and we currently think we have 1 or 2 small leaks that we are searching for. We purchased a leak detector and are getting it fine tuned to search for leaks.

3)Water Judication with the Department of Health – The association is taking care of this process and we currently have our attorney reviewing our information for each well. When that is done, we will submit it to DOH. If anybody has a private well that they are using for animals or gardens, then they need to fill out the information for that well. This will be a long drawn out process lasting for years. We believe we have very solid water rights. Most likely, those affected, would be recent well owners and farmers. We will keep everyone posted on the process.

4)Bad water Samples – As we previously stated, we had 2 bad water samples at the end of 2025, September at the Allison Sample Station and November at the South Sand sample Station. These are positive for Total Coliform (dirt) and NOT E.COLI. We proceeded to check the system and report to the DOH. We were notified that if we had another bad sample within 12 months, we would have to chlorinate the system. We had that 3rd bad sample this month at the Allison sample station. We are trying to be proactive with searching for leaks, and we are looking for a company to look at the well casing to see if they think we might need to replace it. We treated the system with chlorine and flushed the lines after this last bad sample and investigative samples from the well and each sample station were taken Monday and they all came back negative for coliform. Hopefully the DOH will give us some time to find and fix our problem

5)Elections – Robert Haught (President) was re-elected for 3 more years

02/13/2026

Our Annual Meeting is Tuesday, not Wednesday, the 24th

02/11/2026

We had another bad sample, so we are going to chlorinate the tanks tomorrow and flush the system Friday.

11/18/2025

Since we had a bad sample, we will be chlorinating the system. It will not be a full-strength treatment. We will then flush the system this weekend. The sample was positive for coliform (dirt) and NOT E.coli. The water is safe to drink.

05/02/2025

You should have received a notice from us stating that although we took a lead & copper water sample last year, it wasn’t done in the Dept of Heath time frame so we have to take another one this year. We had to send this notice out per DOH regulations. Sorry for the confusion.

03/02/2025

You can ignore the Dept of Ecology notice, unless you have a functioning well on your property. The Association will take care of the future responses.

02/12/2025

We installed the new pump today and we are on the river well. We will put bleach in the well tomorrow. It will take several days for the tanks to move the kelly well water through the system, but we should start seeing improvement in the water quality soon.

02/11/2025

Just a follow up on my previous email, even though the water will look and smell different, it is safe to drink. We have it tested when we test the river well. We are still waiting to hear back from Farmers Equipment as to when we will be getting our new pump

02/09/2025

Our river pump is near its end of life and we have ordered a new pump. In the meantime we will occasionally have to pump water from the kelly well, which will has taste and smell issues. Please keep water useage down untill we get this resolved, thanks

09/01/2024

The water will be shut off on the Smith Road, South of Mt Baker Highway, tomorrow, Monday Sept 2nd, for a period of time between 9am and 11am. Please let your neighbors know, thanks

06/15/2024

We had an electrical problem at the pump and as a result the tanks were emptied. We have the pump working in a manual mode.

We would like everyone to reduce water usage over the weekend while the tanks are refilled.

Please pass the word around to your neighbors

02/05/2024

We have not been able to find the leak, even though we have walked almost the entire system. With relatively mild weather for the next week or so, please be on the lookout for standing or bubbling water. Thanks MBWA
