Our volunteers are making a big impact on our parks and trails! Across our first three Community Work Parties of the fall season, 122 volunteers contributed 366 hours of service to Bellingham’s parks and trails. Together, we removed 19 cubic yards of invasive vegetation, spread 25 cubic yards of mulch, and planted 40 native shrubs!
On September 26, volunteers joined us and Recreation Northwest Trails Coalition at the Bay to Baker Trail to celebrate National Public Lands Day. This work party supported the stewardship and volunteer training grant that Recreation Northwest Trails Coalition received from American Trails in June 2026.
On October 3, community volunteers and members of the Kiwanis Club of Bellingham helped care for a well-loved trail corridor near Whatcom Creek and City Hall, continuing years of stewardship efforts in this area.
And on October 10, we partnered with the Friends of Big Rock Garden Park at our biannual work party at this beautiful, secluded park to clean sculptures, tidy up the trails, and remove invasive weeds.
