Big news for future LaFreniere Court families!

Thanks to a generous $15,000 grant from the Eleanor & Henry Jansen Foundation, LaFreniere Court will feature new play equipment and accessible outdoor amenities designed to foster play, connection, and a shared sense of community.

Just imagine the laughter of children on a playground, neighbors gathering outside, and spaces where everyone can participate and belong. This grant will help make LaFreniere Court a vibrant and welcoming place where families can thrive.

We're deeply grateful to the Eleanor & Henry Jansen Foundation for investing in our community and believing in this vision!

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ali Taysi and the team from AVT Consulting to LaFreniere Court for a tour led by KulshanCLT Director of Development, Kit Topaz. Stay tuned for video clips of the tour to learn about our progress on this cool project!

Jesse, enjoying a festive gnome moment at our Magic of Belonging event (shown), and his wife Carolee are members of the KulshanCLT community. Their Kulshan home is a place to create, plant, write, sing, and simply be.

Too often, rising housing costs force people to put their dreams on hold. But when housing remains affordable for generations, people gain the freedom to build a future.

Jesse is a musician, author, and radio host/DJ. Carolee is an artist, singer, and educator. Their home has become a place where creativity and connection flourish.

What happens when permanently affordable homes and an organic farm become neighbors?

Something pretty magical.

At LaFreniere Court, future homeowners won't just have a beautiful place to live, they'll have fresh, locally grown produce right next door thanks to our partnership with City Sprouts Farm. 🌱

For more than four years, City Sprouts has been growing healthy food on community-owned land in Birchwood. Soon, LaFreniere Court residents will receive CSA shares delivered right to their doorstep, creating easier access to nutritious food in a neighborhood that has lacked a grocery store for years.

But this partnership is about more than vegetables. It's about building a community where neighbors gather, volunteer, share meals, learn together, and cultivate a sense of belonging.

Thriving communities need more than housing. They need connection, belonging, and opportunities to grow.

So, here's to growing all three! 🌻
