My name is Michael Irving, and I am asking for your support and vote in the upcoming election to serve on the Board of Bellmore Fire Commissioners. Growing up in Bellmore, I watched my Father and Uncle serve as active members of the Bellmore Fire Department. I quickly took on a leadership role becoming Lieutenant and later Captain of the squad. When I turned 18, I became a Firefighter and shortly
after an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). I took on other leadership roles by being elected as Lieutenant and Captain of Ladder Truck 606. In 2009 and 2020 I was elected to the position of Chief of Department. I have served on numerous committees and held several other roles within the BFD. I am no stranger to challenges. While serving as Chief of Department in 2020 we were faced with the COVID-19 pandemic. I led the department through this time where we had to quickly pivot and adapt to the needs of the community while adhering to the regulations set forth by the government. I am a career firefighter with the FDNY with more than 23 years of experience. I am a Mepham High School class of 1995 graduate. My wife and I are lifelong Bellmore residents. We decided to raise our family in our hometown due to the love we have for the Bellmore community. With 27 years serving the Bellmore community, I would like to continue my service by serving as a Fire Commissioner. I am committed to the community's safety, while being mindful of budget and tax concerns.
