Today, members of the Bellmore Fire Department are at the Bellmore Library for their Annual Summer Reading Kickoff Event!

Stop by to meet your local firefighters, pick up fire safety coloring books, junior firefighter helmets, and more! This is a great opportunity for families to learn about fire safety while celebrating the start of summer reading.

We look forward to seeing everyone throughout the day and helping promote both literacy and fire safety in our community! 📚🚒

Thank You to all our customers for their patience and continued support during the propane tank repair following Memorial Day weekend.

A special thank you to the Bellmore Fire Department and the Nassau County Fire Marshals for taking every extra precaution to ensure the safety of our staff, customers, neighbors and The Bellmore community.

We’re happy to share that we are fully up and running again and are refilling propane tanks as normal. We truly appreciate the trust you have instilled in us, to continue serving the Bellmore community.

The Bellmore Fire Department is currently holding an auto extrication drill at their department training facility on Royle Street.

Firefighters drill with their vehicle stabilizing practices, using their Holmatro hydraulic cutting and spreading tools and occupant extrication techniques. Fire medics stand by monitoring and ready for the ‘patient’ handoff.

We constantly drill to keep our skills sharp so that we are ready for whatever emergency we are called for.

Yesterday, the Bellmore Fire Department responded to a reported propane leak at Island Greenery, located at 2036 Bellmore Avenue. Upon arrival, members discovered propane leaking from an approximately 1,150-gallon propane tank filling station. Firefighters quickly secured the area and established a safe perimeter while working alongside mutual aid departments and the Nassau County Hazmat Team. Crews coordinated efforts to safely mitigate the incident by conducting a controlled burn operation to reduce the hazard and ensure the safety of nearby residents and businesses.
