On Saturday April 25, 2026 at 1324hrs The Bellport Fire Department responded to a call involving black smoke coming from behind a commercial building on the north side of Montauk Hwy, east of Station Rd. BFD Units 5-1-3 and 5-1-5 arrived on scene to find a pile of debris consisting of pallets and miscellaneous materials on top of a small fiberglass boat hull. After approximately 50 minutes, the fire was extinguished. The property owner used his backhoe to break up the pile so firefighters could continue to soak the area. The incident was under control at 1451hrs. Thanks to South Country Ambulance and SCPD for their assistance on scene.
