A Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warning remains in effect for portions of the Panhandle and much of western, southwest, central, and north central Nebraska, and the majority of the state is in extreme fire danger today. Strong west winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph, very low humidity, and warm temperatures will make it incredibly easy for any spark to turn into a fast-moving, uncontrollable wildfire.

Seriously reconsider burning outdoors today. Please avoid anything that could cause a spark. These conditions mean fires can spread in minutes, putting neighbors, homes, livestock, and first responders at serious risk. One small decision can have devastating consequences. Let’s all do our part to keep our communities safe. Additional fire weather concerns are expected Wednesday, so please stay aware and continue to use extreme caution.

The Bellwood Elementary Veterans Day Program is this Tuesday at 10:15 am in downtown Bellwood. The Public is invited.

As a part of this event, the Bellwood American Legion is retiring flags. If you have any tattered , faded or worn flags that need to be retired, you can send them to school with your child or drop them off at the Bellwood Elementary office prior to the program, and we will give them to the Legion to be retired.
