Mayor Caitlin Donovan met with the DEP Commissioner to discuss flooding in the Shark River and necessary solutions to address our residents’ concerns.

Belmar residents near Maclearie Park, River Rd and the Rhode Island Point neighborhood have too long been subject to flooding and other stressors. As the gateway to Belmar, the solutions need to start today.

That’s why we’ve:
-Partnered with the DEP, the county and our surrounding towns to address Shark River flooding and other resiliency issues
-Secured a safety study for River Rd/35 to evaluate speed and signage
-Started the Maclearie Park subcommittee of the Environmental Commission to examine quality of life and other measures affecting residents in the immediate area

Terry Raskauskas lives a block from L Street Beach in Belmar. Flash flooding from heavy rain and tidal flooding from storms happens on average more than a half dozen times a year.

Salary: $58,000–$62,500, commensurate with experience

Minimum of two years of clerical, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting experience required
Experience with Primepoint and Edmunds is preferred

Discover local Coastal Wildlife at Sunset Seining in Belmar! Tuesday September 1st

The Shark River Clean Up Coalition (SRCC) is hosting this special event in partnership with the American Littoral Society and the Belmar Environmental Commission.

Experience the thrill of hands-on marine discovery! Join us at Maclearie Park for an evening of hands-on discovery led by the American Littoral Society’s Education Team, as we explore the diverse wildlife that calls our Shark River tidal basin home.

Tuesday, September 1st, 6-8 PM at Maclearie Park in Belmar: you'll help pull a 40-foot seine net through the water to discover and identify the incredible fish, crabs, and other fascinating creatures that call our coast home. It's a fun and educational activity for all ages.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to register today!

Registration is required: ​$10 per participant [*No fee for children 2 and younger], please register all attending children & adults.
