Amazing Help! A special thanks to Mary Lindquist & Mary Raymond for making the masks for all of our inspectors for the past 2 elections!!!

We have been made aware-via messages, calls & social media that there is a concern about the use of sharpie markers while voting.

We have used these markers for 10 years. Please remember that once your ballot goes through the machine there are no take backs. You know your ballot was cast because the machine told your it was successful.

The sharpies are one of the approved writing utensils. Itโ€™s chosen for its dry time-wonโ€™t cause issues with the machine.

If it was true that the sharpies were a problem then there wouldnโ€™t be any elected officials in Allegany County due to the fact thatโ€™s all the voters use on Election Day. ๐Ÿ˜Š

All pens are read by the machine as well.

We had an amazing turnout for The Early Voting. We had 3,247 voters come in to vote over 12% of our registered voters. This does not count the Affidavit Voters. We averaged approximately 48 voters per hour during the early voting hours. We had amazing help! Lynn Thompson, Mary Lindquist, Mary Raymond, Abby Luzier, Nicole Munkwitz, Tim Voss, Suzie Thomas, Mary Presutti, Lynette Decker, Meghan Oโ€™Kelly Harris, Veronica Davis & Barb Zlomek!! Without the extra hands we would never have been as successful! Great teamwork! Itโ€™s been a pleasure being part of such a group of hardworking people. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Election Day-ALL of the normal Poll Sites will be open 6am-9pm. Our Inspectors have been trained to watch for electioneering & most of all sanitizing processes. Be kind & appreciative of the time they are giving & the risks they are taking-there isnโ€™t an election without them. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

If you are placed into Quarantine or Isolation due to Covid prior to Election Day & you have not requested an Absentee it won't be too late. You can have someone come to the office for you to pick one up between now & the 2nd. They will have to sign that they picked up the ballot for you with Photo ID. They can be mailed up through the 27th of October. Obviously the sooner we can help the better-we also know that in these times that is last minute. ๐Ÿ™‚ Call us with ANY questions...585-268-9294 or 9295

All regular poll sites are open on November 3rd. We are asking if possible not to bring kids to the site- that would be helpful to our Inspectors. We understand thatโ€™s not always an option so remember to keep them with you at all times & masks will be required(of course under 2 is not). If we can assist in anyway please let our Inspectors know. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The Board of Elections is not located in the main county building. It is located at 8 Willets Ave. Belmont. Our Early Voting begins Saturday at 9am. Look for the Early Voting Flags!! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

NY State now has in person Early Voting. It begins the 10th before the election-October 24th & runs for 9 days straight ending on November 1st. The link below has all of the info for dates and times.

All Early Voting only is done at the Allegany County Board of Elections at 8 Willets Ave Belmont. No appointment needed.

Last year approximately 270 people took advantage of this option. We anticipate a much higher use of this option this year. If lines develop we will use a ticket system for placement. We will also keep track of line placement if you choose to wait in your car. All cdc practices will be followed between each voter. Masks are required. We ask that if you have any Covid symptoms or have been exposed that you call for assistance @ 585-268-9295 or 9294.

We look forward to serving all of our Early Voters in 2020!!!!๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Our Inspectors will be cleaning between each voter. Each booth, table & chair will be cleaned. Our pens & utensils will also be disinfected between voters.

Our poll sites will only allow enough people in that there are booths to vote.

Ex: If your poll site has 4 booths then only 4 people are allowed in the building; all others will need to wait outside while social distancing or in their car.

Our inspectors will have numbered tickets for those who are waiting-including those who choose to wait in their cars.

If a couple who live in the SAME house come in & agree to use all the same items they can be counted as one voter. You MUST have the same physical address.

We care about every single voter & inspector who enters our poll sites please be patient. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

When you go to your poll site to vote on November 3rd that you are not allowed, by law, to wear any item that has ANY Political slogans, symbols or pictures of candidates on them.

Your car canโ€™t have any type of sticker or magnet on it & be parked within the 100โ€™ markers.

If you choose to wear such items you will be asked to wait your turn outside of the electioneering signs until it is your turn to vote.

Please be considerate of the Inspectors-they donโ€™t write the laws just help enforce them for everyone.

All voters will be required to wear a mask at their poll site on Election Day or for Early Voting at the Board of Elections. If you donโ€™t have one youwill be offered one-otherwise the only other option will be to vote an Affidavit Ballot outside the building. This is for everyoneโ€™s safety. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thousands of envelopes are being stuffed & getting set for the mail room. Absentees have arrived at our office. Your ballot should be arriving next week to week and a 1/2. Please call the Board of Elections after the first full week of October if you were expecting one & havenโ€™t received it. No need to call before that unless you NEED to apply. Remember Permanent Absentee voters do not need to apply again. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

An Informational card has been mailed to each household of Registered Voters. You should have it within a few days.

It has all upcoming dates necessary for the General Election cutoffs, Early Voting Hours(only at the Board of Elections Office), Your hometown poll site should you decide to vote in person ( the changes that in June have NOTHING to do with the November Election) as well as a return post card that any voter tht chooses an Absentee & has NOT already requested one can sign & give their DOB & mail to the Board of Elections as soon as possible. Once ballots are available they can be mailed to you.

Please feel free to message or comment on this page with questions or concerns. We are happy to help. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 585-268-9295 or 9294.

Absentee information that could help lots of people. Also there will be a post card coming to each household. IF you want an absentee you can sign & put your Date of Birth on the card & mail back to the Board of Elections to become eligible for an Absentee. It will have ALL options of how you can vote whether it's in person or absentee. If you have already applied you DO NOT need to send that card back-if you are a PERMANENT Absentee Voter you do not need to send that back. We have you covered.

There are lots of misunderstandings out there right now about mail ballots. NY State does NOT have an order to mail a ballot to every voter. The only way to receive an absentee ballot is to call our office and request one at this time. Your options for voting are one of the following: (as of 8/5/2020)

1. Vote in person in Belmont for Early Voting
2. Vote in person at your regular poll site
3. Absentee-YOU must make the effort to notify us that you will not be able to vote in person.

Call the office with any questions or concerns we are happy to help our Allegany County Voters. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Our results have been tallied. Please use the link below. Our only local race was in the Town of Alma for Republican County Committee Members. It was a vote for 2 out of 4 option. All results for Democrat & Libertarian are on the same link. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Special thanks to ALL of our Inspectors that worked the primary yesterday! You all did a great job as usual!

Tomorrow is Election Day. The only ones eligible to vote is this Primary are county wide Democrats for the Presidential Primary. Libertarians for State Committee Members. Town of Alma Republicans for County Committee.

Please keep in mind the following when voting in person:
1. Masks are Required-if you donโ€™t have one we will provide one. Thanks to the Department of Health!
2. Disinfecting will happen between voters please be patient.
3. Covid Questions will be asked upon arrival.
4.PLEASE do not stay to visit. The number of voters per site is limited & our Inspectors do not want to be rude by asking you to leave. Please go in, vote then say bye-thanks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you are not a registered DEMOCRAT OR LIBERTARIAN IN THE COUNTY or a resident of the Town of Alma & a registered REPUBLICAN then see you in November. If you arenโ€™t sure call the Board of Elections before heading out. 585-268-9295 or 9294.

From the Board of Elections:
There have been postings on personal social media pages about receiving multiple Ballots for people who no longer reside at a house. Our answer for this is below.

The list for the school came from the Board of Elections. The schools used the county lists this year to assist in the large task of an executive order to mail all residents an absentee ballot.

Each year our office is required by law to mail an Address Voter Verification cardYellow Carr you received in February/March) is mailed to each and every voter. When they are returned undeliverable their voter status is changed, if they have moved out of state or county status is changed.

However many times family members do not think anything of their children getting mail at their childhood home address so they just throw away the card. Well then that just lets us know there are no issues with that address. Voters have to be responsible in changing their addresses. When mail comes to a home that the people no longer reside in it should not be kept it should be returned stating that person no longer lives there-it is a postage paid process & cost the home owner nothing-or a call to the Board of Elections making us aware they are no longer in your home.

Hello all school voters!
Although the Board of Elections DO NOT run school elections we do provide lists/labels for the districts. Upon supplying the list we have found that some of our street files were placing voters in the wrong school districts. We are correcting these as they are found. This is the first time a mailing of this sort has had to take place so it only stands to reason mistakes will be made/found. We are all human.

The clerks have been handed a huge undertaking this year due to the Covid 19 crisis-They are required to mail everyone a paper ballot. We ask that everyone be patient & kind during this time. All of us are working together to make it as seamless as possible. Please call our office if it concerns your voter record. If it concerns your school ballot please call the school directly-just think about being kind & considerate to all! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“š

Deadline for June Primary is in person Friday May 29th. Our office will have a drop box outside our office door for any in person registrations(during regular business hours only), a mailed form with a postmark of May 29th & received by June 3rd-this also stands for address changes. Call with questions or concerns. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
