Come on people please some one take over as administrator, I will be moving out of state in the next 45 days and will not be able to keep contact to keep the page going. Its already slowed down so much. Volunteer Services should be kept up for information to each other and public safety...there has to be someone in Allegany County Fire Service that will take over?

Obituary: Curtis A. "Curt" Loper, Sr., 64, Wellsville

Wellsville - Curtis A. “Curt” Loper Sr., 64, of the Baldwin Road passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017, surrounded by his family at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Hornell to Donald and Beverlee Hargraves Loper Sr. On June 16, 1973 he married Dawnne Wyant who survives.
Curt graduated from Canisteo Central High School in 1971 and from Alfred State College in 1973, where he played baseball, with an associate’s degree as an electrician. He worked for Carpet Town, Acker’s Quaker State, and for Air Preheater [ARVOS] from where he retired from in 2016 after 30 years of service. At the time of his death he was the President of the Wellsville Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed organizing the annual “Camp Shoot”. Curt was also a member of the Wellsville Elks Club, as was a member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department, Genesee Hose Company, where he was a fire policeman. He volunteered for the Wellsville Midget League Football, Little League Baseball, and was the manager of the Southern Tier Lady Lighting Fast Pitch Travel team for 6 years where he met many lifelong friends. In his younger days he played men’s fast pitch softball for the Past Time Bar and for Arnoys and Dye. He had umpired high school baseball, and was a long time member of the Wellsville High School Football Chain Gang. Curt enjoyed family cook outs and playing cards, golfing, fishing, and his love of the outdoor and the camaraderie with his hunting pals was his passion. Curt was a lifelong New York Yankees fan who had idolized Thurman Munson. In the last 3 years, in particular, were special to him as the love for his grandchildren grew and it was a wonderful thing to watch.

Surviving besides his wife, Dawnne are a son, Curtis A. “CJ” [Ashley] Loper of Wellsville; Lindsay Loper of Olean; grandchildren, Miles and Averiella Loper; 3 brother in-laws as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He had been predeceased by his parents, Donald and Beverlee Loper Sr., and his brother, Donald Loper Jr.

At Curt’s request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Wellsville Elks Lodge starting at 1 p.m. Please consider memorials in His name to the Wellsville Rod and Gun Club, or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or to Wellsville Little League Baseball. It is with sad regrets that we say good bye and last call to Curtis Loper of The Wellsville Fire Company of the WFD and Wellsville Fire Police. Curt was a long time member of the Wellsville Fire Department and was injured in an ATV accident, unfortunately Curt did not make it through surgery and succumbed to his injuries. Huge prayers go out to his Family, Friends & Brothers and Sisters of Wellsville and the world. We've got it from here Brother. Fly high and RIP...

It is another sad Day for the Willing Volunteer Fire Dept. Allegany County, N.Y. as we say goodbye to: Clair (Tuggy) Coyle, Past Fire Police Captain and 50 year Veteran of the Fire Service serving Allegany County & US Marine Veteran. May the sun shine upon your soul and God hold you in his wings. We've got you covered on this end my old friend until we meet again, guide us and lead us to safety when in danger from above. R.I.P

Anyone wishing to attend services for Fire Fighter/Fire Police Jack Ordway of Willing Volunteer Fire Dept Services are Wednesday the 19th 2-4, 7-9 with the funeral is Thursday the 20th 11am at the Crowell funeral home Main Street Wellsville. Following the service the procession will take Jack to the Willing fire hall for his last call and anyone who would like to continue on to the cemetery in north Bingham pa.
