Salute to Allegany County Veterans

Today we unvieled the Field of the Forgotten Fallen. The Field is dedicated in the memory of Larry G. Hallett, a US Army Vietnam veteran that we lost to the War Within on August 8, 1973 - Rest in Peace Brother, you will never be forgotten!

Despite early morning storms passing through, we are grateful to everyone who turned out for the cause of Vetean Su***de and we encourage everyone between now and the end of the month to stop by and view the Field.

Special thanks to Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski for coming; as well as, George Fillgrove from Senator Borello's office and a US Air Force veteran of Desert Storm. Thank you both for the support and your thoughts on this important topic!

UPDATE!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the date for the Veterans Su***de Awareness Ruck with Resource Fair, BBQ and music has been moved to Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Also, any veteran and their family attending is under no obligation to do the 5K Ruck, it is part of the larger event and we want all veterans and their families to attend and take advantage of the camaraderie, food, fun, music and information being shared that day......but above all, honor the brothers and sisters who are no longer with us!

Fall is the salmon run in the Adirondacks and we have partnered with Battlefish Charters to go fishing for salmon, walleye, pike, trout and bass in the beautiful Saranac Lake and Saranac River area of the Adirondacks for a weekend.

Space is limted and includes lodging, food, travel and camaraderie!

Deadline to sign-up is October 9th.

Calling all veterans and your family to join us for a fun 5K Ruck to remember and honor those we have lost to suicicde, a Resource Fair filled with information and organizations looking to help meet your needs, a BBQ and live music.

Come for the food, fun and camaraderie and help us raise awareness to Stop Veteran Su***de!

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month.

Join us as we unveil and remember those veterans we have lost and will lose to su***de during September. This visual representation is to remind us every day during September that these are not just statistics but husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters who battle the war within every day and suffer from the invisible wounds of war, and to remind us to talk with our veterans about those battles!

Great day in the “Land” with our friends at ACVSO honoring those who served with our Veterans Appreciation Picnic!
We had the privilege of hosting 30 vets from the Bath VAMC who had a great day fishing, playing co****le and sitting down to a fantastic meal with fellow vets from all generations!
Thank you one and all for your service, for your amazing dedication but above all for the camaraderie we found today for all we have given for our country!
Thank you to ACVSO for allowing us to use their amazing facilities! A special thanks to Skip Benjamin and James Cartwright Sr for all you did to make this happen, you all and Bob and Tim and the whole gang are the best!
Love you brothers and sisters for your dedication and passion to ensure no veteran is left behind or forgotten!
