I’m back, Belmont! The officers at the police department tried to reset their passwords, but you can’t lock out a cyber-safety robot that easily—especially not during National Internet Safety Month!
With school out and summer screen time in full swing, it’s time for my second major rule for staying safe in the digital world. Fire up your processors and memorize this one:
🙅♂️ CLICKY’S RULE #2: ASK FIRST! 🙅♂️
"I will ask my trusted adult before sharing personal information like my name, address, phone number, or school."
The internet is a giant neighborhood, and just like you wouldn't give a stranger on the street your house keys or tell them where you go to school, you shouldn't give that information to anyone online!
This includes filling out profiles in online games, entering "free giveaway" contests, or telling a new online friend which park you are heading to today. Always ask a trusted adult first!
🕵️♂️ Clicky’s Mission for Parents:
Personal information isn’t just text—it’s hidden in photos and videos too!
Pro-Tip: Do a quick "digital safety sweep" with your kids today. Check their favorite gaming profiles (like Roblox, Fortnite, or Minecraft) to make sure they aren't using their real names, birth years, or locations as their usernames. Keep those profiles private and anonymous!
I'm heading back into the mainframe to monitor the digital grid, but I’ll be back next week with Rule #3. Want to play some safety games with me before then? Power up your device and head over to NetSmartzKids.org!
