🚒 HANDS-ON AUTO EXTRICATION TRAINING! 🚒

On Tuesday, August 25th, members of the Belmont Fire Department joined forces with members of the Gilmanton Fire Department for a day of hands-on auto extrication training.

Thanks to four vehicles donated for training, each shift had the opportunity to work through different realistic, real-world extrication scenarios. Each evolution presented its own challenges and gave our firefighters the chance to practice critical skills including:

🔧 Vehicle stabilization & extrication techniques
🩺 Patient care
📣 Communication & teamwork
🎯 Incident command
🧠 Decision-making under pressure

Lt. R***r did an outstanding job organizing the training and adding unexpected challenges to keep our crews thinking on their feet. In one evolution, the officer was immediately injured, requiring the senior firefighter to step up and assume incident command.

Scenarios like these are incredibly valuable. Extrication isn't just about knowing the tools and techniques—it's about being able to communicate, adapt, make decisions, and work as a team when things don't go according to plan.

Overall, it was a very productive day of training and a great opportunity for our members to work alongside our neighboring department while sharpening the skills we rely on when someone's worst day becomes our call.

Al’s Towing recently donated an assortment of new tools to the Belmont Fire Department that will be placed on our new fire engine scheduled to arrive this fall. The new engine was made possible in large part through a $500,000 grant from the Granite State Clean Fleets Program. While this grant has provided an incredible opportunity for our department and community, outfitting a new piece of apparatus with all of the necessary equipment comes with significant additional costs.

As a small department, we continue to look for creative ways to secure the equipment we need while keeping the cost to our taxpayers as low as possible. Generous donations and community partnerships like this help us stretch every dollar and make the most of the funding we receive.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Al and Al’s Towing for supporting the Belmont Fire Department and our community. These new tools will be put to good use and will serve our firefighters and residents for many years to come.

We are extremely fortunate to have local businesses that continue to step up and support their community. Thank you, Al’s Towing!

🚒 A Little Late, But Too Good Not to Share! 🚒

Although we're a little behind in posting, we want to thank everyone who joined us for another fantastic National Night Out here in Belmont!

It was a wonderful evening spent connecting with members of our community, answering questions, and giving residents a firsthand look at the work we do.

A very special thank you to Belmont Salvage for generously donating a vehicle for our live vehicle extrication demonstration. Their support helped us showcase the specialized training and equipment our firefighters use to safely rescue victims trapped in vehicles. We truly appreciate their continued commitment to our community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and supported this great event. We always enjoy the opportunity to meet with our residents and share what we do to help keep Belmont safe.

It was a spa day for Engine 1, she was pampered today with a fresh coat of wax. She certainly looks pretty for her age, she”ll be turning 17 years old in January. 😊

Shift 4 with our new probationary member had the pleasure of going to the last day of summer school at the elementary school. The kids had a lot of fun.
