Signed into law by Governor Tim Walz on Wednesday, the Digital Fair Repair Act is the second broad, consumer right to repair law in the U.S., after New York enacted a narrower bill in December and closes many of the pro-industry, pro-BigTech loopholes written into the NY bill.Chief among them: home appliances are covered by the Minnesota bill!!
Read our take on this .

Governor Baker’s COVID Executive Orders cleared the way for the use of remote meeting technology in Belmont. But that order will eventually expire. That’s why our Select Board should vote now, as required under the State’s Open Meeting Law, to allow committee members to continue to participate remotely after the pandemic finally ends.

COVID special orders will eventually end. Our Select Board should vote now to allow Belmont committee members to deliberate remotely.

Hey Belmont friends. If you support the Belmont Public Schools, the Belmont Community Path, and the Belmont Public Library please attend tomorrow evening's Select Board virtual (Zoom) meeting at 7:00 when the discussion will be on a Prop 2 1/2 override to avoid steep cuts to schools, town services, the library and more. This will be a critical decision for the future of our schools and Town and a vocal group of anti-tax residents is squaring off to urge the Select Board to pursue deep cuts in funding and a halt to projects like the 7-12 school and the Community Path. We need to hear your voice. I've included a link in the blog post to the Select Board meeting.

A group of anti-tax residents plans to ask the Select Board to halt work on the 7-12 School and abandon the Community Path project. Concerned Belmontonians should tune in to the Select Board Zoom m…

Important information from Belmont PD: phone support scams are a big problem. Never allow a stranger to have remote access to your computer!

Reminder: Microsoft and Apple will NEVER randomly call claiming there is an issue with your computer. NEVER give these callers remote access to your computer. Most importantly, they will NEVER ask for payment in the form of gift cards. A resident recently paid who they thought was Apple over $6,000 in gift cards for computer "maintenance." Just hang up!
