This was also a recent topic during our Coffee with a Cop! Plainfield Township Fire Department Firefighter and Infant Safe Sleep Coordinator Katie Miller walked residents through the "ABCs of Safe Sleep":
A: Alone. No pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, or bumper pads in the crib.
B: Back. Always place baby on their back to sleep.
C: Crib. Use a crib or bassinet with a firm mattress and tightly fitted sheet.

Trail user FAQ: Where are electric bicycles allowed?

Where someone can ride an e-bike depends on what class it is. Here in Plainfield Township, Class 1 e-bikes (pedal-assisted, no throttle, travel up to 20 mph) on:
🚲 Roads and bike lanes
🚲 Paved linear non-motorized trails, like the White Pine Trail
🚲 Motorized, natural surface trails, like ORV trails

In certain circumstances, Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on non-motorized, natural surface trails, including Plainfield Township’s Merrell Trail.

From summer to a new school year - here's a great resource to clean out your home as you make the transition!

A good reminder for all drivers as school starts once again. Get a full refresher on how to safely share the road with buses: bit.ly/SchoolBusRoadSafety

School is back in session for many schools, and for all schools starting Monday. That means buses are out, making stops, and kids are getting on that bus.

Last week Tuesday and this morning, we had two school buses that were struck while on their routes picking up kids. Luckily, no children were hurt. As a driver, we MUST pay attention to our surroundings.

✋ Amber flashing lights - prepare for the bus to stop. Do not pass the bus.

🛑 Red flashing lights / stop arm - the bus is stopping, and you must come to a complete stop at least 20 feet away from the bus.

🤷‍♂️ If you’re not sure what to do, when in doubt, stop!

👮 If you pass the bus , you will likely have your license plate recorded and our deputies will follow up with a big expensive ticket and a disappointed look on their face.

Help keep our kids safe. Pay attention to the road.
