Industrial Emergency Council IEC provides emergency response training to the
public & private sector. The Industrial emergency Council was founded in 1978. We believe in learning by doing.

IEC was designed to serve as a link between the private sector and public agencies, to improve emergency preparedness and response. The Industrial Emergency Council is part of CAER {Community Awareness to Emergency Response}, a national network of organizations sponsored by the Chemical Manufacturers Association. ice. IEC has the superior ability to assess and deliver training and education designed to fulfill each individual customer’s needs. We have proven ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships in both the public and private sector. Our high quality instructors are among the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals in their fields. Approximately 80% of our training consists of hands on instruction by the nation’s top corps of emergency response teaching professionals. Included are chemists, industrial hygienists, paramedics, HazMat specialists, firefighters, law enforcement strategists and others who can help you and your team plan and learn with maximum effectiveness and enjoyment. The Industrial Emergency Council offers training courses in Rescue Systems, Medical response (HAZWOPPER), and diverse specialized training courses including Incident Command/ Scene Management, Firefighting, Media training, Building Council, and also customized courses for specialized needs. A key aspect of our training is our collection of the finest training equipment including certified prop trailers for simulated spills. Whether you are interested in personal training, have the need to prepare and entire staff for emergency response, or file plans to fulfill regulatory requirements, the Industrial Emergency Council can provide the expertise and the training you need.

The IEC is pleased to congratulate Robert Rezende on his promotion to Division Chief with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Chief Rezende is a senior instructor for the IEC and a recognized subject matter expert in lithium-ion battery response, Battery Energy Storage Systems, hazardous materials, and other specialized emergency response disciplines.

Over the course of two weeks, students built on their HazMat Technician foundation and pushed their skills to the next level through fast-paced, hands-on “run and gun” scenarios designed to challenge decision-making, teamwork, and operational readiness.

WMD Terrorism Training – August 6–7
The IEC will host a 16-hour WMD Terrorism course on August 6–7, designed for certified HazMat Technicians and Specialists. This advanced training explores the complexities of terrorism response, including the identification and management of potential weapons encountered during a terrorist incident.
The course incorporates the latest intelligence, real-world case studies, and current events, enhanced by instruction from experienced professionals such as bomb squad technicians, clandestine laboratory responders, and other active field specialists.
Participants will strengthen their situational awareness, operational capabilities, and technical knowledge, gaining practical skills to enhance performance in the field.
