Days of work in eight seconds. 🫰🏼

If you’ve visited us recently, you may have noticed that the Williamson Conservatory looks a little different, and that’s because we’re currently undergoing a major soil renovation. Over the last 17 years, the soil has been depleted of nutrients, so much so, in fact, that many of our tropical plants were living in pots instead of planted in the ground just to ensure their survival! 😳

Replacing the soil throughout the entire Conservatory is no small feat. Our horticulture team has embarked on this multi-month project to replace the soil and plants in the Conservatory bed-by-bed. 🪏This is why some sections still look overgrown, while others are filled with newer, smaller plants.

The expression “dirt cheap” turned out to be entirely false. The new soil in the Conservatory is a specialized mix that required a big investment… and our entire team is grateful to Steve and Anne Rhodes, who not only helped fund this project, but volunteer weekly to get their hands in the dirt and help us maintain the health and longevity of the Conservatory.

While the Conservatoy may look different for a little while, rest assured that this soil restoration project will ensure that it is an oasis for lush, vibrant tropical plants for years to come. 🌺

Truly a garden for all seasons 🍁❄️🌷☀️

Throughout September and the beginning of October, The Gardens were in their full bloom, filling each space with lush greenery, vibrant colors and breathtaking flowers. 

As the seasons change, so do The Gardens. Our Horticulture team worked hard to pull out the spring annual plants that had ended their lifecycle and plant fall annuals that will bring new life to The Gardens during the cooler months. 🌼

Thank you to our Horticulture staff and volunteers for their dedication the past few weeks to turn over The Gardens for fall!

Come check out the fall annuals during your next visit to The Gardens! We’re excited to watch them grow over the next few months. 🌸
